I have a little problem. I bought a 6-speed gearbox and now I want to check if it really is a 6-speeder (or possibly a 5-speeder), box not mounted.
Does someone have any idea how to check this?!
I tried with Fiat numbers, but I did not find any suitable so far to confirm a 6-speeder...
Thank you for any tips.
Juergen

The 6 speed box is slightly bigger, although I'm not sure of the exact measurements.

If you have a known 5 speed box then measure and compare to your "6 speed" box and if it's the same then it's another 5 speed.

As far as I know both boxes have the same housing - thus... where should the 6 speeder gearbox be bigger or what is a obvious Feature of the 6 -speed?!
Unfortunately I have a 5-speed old (Delta Integrale) version as comparison only - won't help me anywhere :-(
Thank you

The housing is bigger on the 6 speed.

I remember when Paul fitted the 6 speed box to his (originally 5 speed) coupe that the casing was too close to some air con parts, either hoses or the drier/filter, which later had to be relocated after the rubbing caused a leak of the aircon gas.
