Every day there's a chance you find something out that will affect the rest of your life. An 'aha erlebnis'. It might be positive, it might be negative.

Let's share these tiny joys with each other in this thread.

I'll give it a go.

Today, I found out what it is that ruins alcantara. You know... you find some attractive seats that would fit perfectly in your car. They come out of, for example, an old Lancia and they are perfect. You go and take a look at them and find they have only one drawback: as is often the case, there are those fibres of alcantara that are slightly piled together. Like little 'islands', strands of alcantara suede flocked together. You haggle a bit and take it home, being all happy.

It's easy to fix it to be honest. Just take a disposable razor and shave off those strings.

Now then... today I found out that this is not actual 'wear' like when you slide around the seat in corders. It's actually caused by sweat / moist / ... so rather than becoming like this over many years, it's often caused at a certain moment in time. Or many certain moments in time.

So next time you buy a second hand alcantara seat you can now have a mental image of the seller sitting naked in his car.

Enjoy.

Today i learnt that the ancient Brie cheese i found in my coupe behind the rear seat when i bought it,has kept some of the soundproofing supple. So its a bugger to get it off now.

On Thursday night, I found out that Magners and Carling Cider have reduced their bottle sizes to 500ml in the multipacks that you can buy, whereas Stella Cidre haven't and are still 568ml each.

A fact to be aware of when buying any of these over Christmas, as they are usually the same price, but you're getting better value with the Stella.

Every ml helps laugh snowman

Last night I discovered that if I go to the pub with the GF, her daughter and one of her friends (who are students), all the money disappears from my wallet.

And todays kids version of A Jaegerbomb is not that same as it was when I were a lad....

Today I found out that the boot of a coop isn't big enough for a Christmas food shop, and I also found out that if you let a woman try to fit a Christmas shop in the boot of a coop you end up with fifteen broken eggs wrapped round your boot hinge.

Today I found out that there isn't a hash key on a UK Mac keyboard (or at least not the one I'm using (on a PC!)).

I know - I don't think there's a Delete key either - at least not one I could find when I needed it on Windows (Boot Camp)

ETA - the US version has both # and Delete key but no Backspace or £

I've just learned that Waitrose at 7:30am is a far more pleasurable shopping experience than Asda at 6:45am.

No, I'm fairly sure they're lures used for fishing.

Dear monos, a secret truth.

You don't fool me. I'm no fisherman, but even I know you don't fish for bait with *bait*.

I think they're after bigger game. Mopeds, perhaps.
