Anyone else got an iphone 5? Is it just me or are they steadily getting worse? My 4 was pretty ropey, all the usual problems, so i foolishly upgraded to a 5 only to find it's even worse! It's now totally given up connecting to wifi, and the 3G is sketchy at best. Because i can no longer connect to wifi it can't back up so there is excess data and no storage available. No doubt the software update might help but i can't do that without connecting to wifi either! banghead suicide

You should be able to backup and update with a cabled connection to a computer with itunes.

Backup and restore as a first step.

I've had an iPhone for years now, varying models. They have never let me down to date. Maybe you have a bad un!

I've had every iPhone with the exception of the 4S(I went straight from 4-5) and I've only had one issue.

My 5 would frequently and sporadically turn itself off. Even though it was a temperamental issue and it wouldn't do it when I visited the shop they still replaced it immediately without quibble.

If backing up through iTunes doesn't work, book yourself an appointment at your local store. The service is very good.

I am very critical of products but the iPhone is a fantastic bit if kit especially for people on the go.
Only common complaints are about charges that other phones give for free.
Extremely user friendly even for a novice.

I've got the 4s and it gets five stars for my vote.

If they actually make it last through the day, I'll consider them an actual possibility. Secondhand. Way too much money otherwise.

Mine has been problem after problem. People can't phone me unless they send a whatsapp first ( what the hell?) telling me my iMessages were delivered when they were not, having to turn the phone off and on to get messages through, camera wouldn't focus. Been to the Apple store 3 times and on my 2nd phone. Probem is I think Samsung are gash and you can't beat Apple for all round ease of use and they have the best Apps. So I'm a bit screwed! Maybe a 14 year old brick is the way forward!

Coopless!

Pinin, I have noticed a lot of people put problems down to their phone, while in 80% of the cases it's a carrier problem / sim card problem. Especially if it's the second phone you're on with the same / similar symptoms...

Same here! Samsung Galaxy S4 no problems so far! smile

I had Iphone 3GS and Iphone 4 - never had any problems with them whatsoever! My brother is with 4S - no problems at all.

Friend of mine with Iphone 5 is posting all the time on facebook about things going wrong with his device... Camera, speaker, call problems ect..

Probably after 4S things are going downhill for Apple...

I wonder if the 5 has been a lemon. My data for this is a bit tenuous but I'm struggling to explain this situation otherwise: Charlie contrived to fall into a swimming pool on holiday ruining his iPhone 4S. It's insured so no problem - I live near to what is, apparently, the biggest Apple store in Europe. So I popped in to either get him a new 4S or me the 5S and give Charlie my 4S (which he was perfectly happy to do). Anyhow the BEST iPhone they could offer me was the 4S with a derisory 8GB of storage (the alternative was the 4 - even the salesman didn't want to sell me that). They hadn't yet got the 5S and had no 5. Why would Apple have discontinued the 5 before the 5S was available? Normally they drag products out for a long time (note the 4 being available). I can only assume that the 5 hasn't been great. Certainly my 4S, Charlie's and Eve's have been great (apart from an obvious switch fault with the brand new one he first got).

MRS, I wonder if it's because the 5c is available now? I'd think the 5 as we knew it would be redundant with that.

Markiz, both my brother and I have the S4. Tbh, not that impressed. My brother's needed a new battery after his bulged and wouldn't charge properly. Mine crashes quite regularly. And both drop calls like you wouldn't believe (maybe blame 4G for that one).

SAFETY NOTE - if you *ever* have a bulging battery, immediately consult the maker for safe disposal. Do not attempt to charge it, do not attempt to use it, do not keep it anywhere about your person or where there are flammable materials close.

This is what lithium batteries do just before they explode...

Quite. Exploding batteries are bad. With this one it was discovered after the charge fault was identified and as a result of investigation.

Except they're still selling the iPhone 4 - where does that stack up against the 4S, the 5, the 5C and the 5S??? And at least continue sling the 5 until the 5C is launched. Literally, the 4S 8GB was the very best phone they could offer two weeks before the 5C and 5S was launched with the 5S in particular almost impossible to source.

My misses has the 5 and she has had no problems with it,also it is still very fast, but on ios 6 (she doesnt like change!)
I have the 4, (wifes hand me down) which was great but i swear it is getting slower with each software upgrade! was ok but now upgraded to latest ios its really slow! i reckon this must be a ploy to get you to buy the next model up!
The one thing about iphones are how it just works seamlessly, but they are definitely a marmite phone you either love them or cant stand them!
