Yes I've had a look through, I'm reading through a lot of sections on here first before I make the move.

Hello and welcome aboard Daz! It took me about 2/3 months of reading, lurking and absorbing information from this great forum before I bought my first Coupé 20V Turbo. And armed to the teeth with the Buyers Guide and Buyers Checklist I went and got one! Good luck with your search mate!

Get the 20vt
Check the car hasnt got ticking noise when you first start it from cold if it has manifold could be cracked.
When on the test drive check all temp gauges and really take notice of oil pressure once the car is warm
Get a good feel of the clutch some can have some judder like mine in 1st when taking off slowly which is ok but any judder in the higher gears at speed might be a problem.
Get the 20vt
Check water level makesure its well above min under the bonnet.
Ask what oil they have been using mobil 1 10/60 is popular and very good
Check service history to see when cambelt was last done if it needs doing factor that into negotiating can be done for about £400.
Did I mention get the 20vt?
Welcome and enjoy there isnt a better car for the money and with just a 15 £ gtec chip from grahamL on here they are 13 odd sec cars to a 100 and as quick as an e46 M3.

Shall he get the 20VT then? Anything less would be futile for Daz, I think the slowest car he's had was an N/A 944. Great advice

You know what? I think I'll get a 20vt! They sound better than the 16v too. Does the ticking manifold thing apply to all years or just the earlier cars?

Thanks Markiz. I'm doing the research now and will start looking this week as my rx8 is up for sale to fund the purchase. Thats funny because the 20vt that I bought recently was off a guy who had had it for 12 years and he had bought an RX8!

I used to have a rx8 a couple of years ago good enough car but know where near as quick as a 20vt in a straight line the coupe has better brakes to.The only down side is not as good handling but it can be modified to handle better

Give me chance to clean it first Brilly! It's sporting a fccuk sticker and tax disc too. Reg is R423 EAP if anyone knows it?

You have just had the weekend! Hope you enjoy it. I got mine 18 months ago and found plenty of support and technical input on the forum. Not sure what else comes close for the initial outlay, (except these days a RX8!) but do budget for service items, upgrades and the like to keep her sweet. They are on their way to being a classic!
