Following on from the Alternative Coupe Engines thread, what about the other angle - what other cars would/should a Coupe engine go into?

Some cars (Punto?) will take a 16vt without too much metal-bashing and some (Alfa156, Bravo) will take a 20vt without resorting to the angle-grinder.

However, the idea of dropping a modestly tuned 20vt lump into a Multipla and then taking it on track is hugely interesting - just imagine taking five passengers and then buzzing some quick machinery - what a laugh. I know it has already been done somewhere in Europe, but its just begging to be done over here in Blighty

So - what else would be interesting as a home for a Coupe lump?

I have always thought that if I ever crashed my coop , a Alfa GTV with a 20vt would be a nice car to build..

I've got a multipla and once the engine dies in it im planning on doing a 20vt conversion. Hopefully it won't die anytime soon though as I've got two coupes to finish first.

What about a Barchetta? - lovely little car, crying out for a bit more power

Facelift Alfa 147.

Great little hatchback, just sold mine, but would have kept it and loved it for many years if it had the power and noise of the Coupe.

Twas only a 1.6 TS, so very uninspiring power wise, but handling was spot on (although im sure the 2.0l turbo lump would affect things somewhat...) looks wise a gorgeous car.

Yes the idea of a 20VT engine mounted inline and mated up to a suitable RWD gearbox would be awesome, and is something I've thought about. I think the Fiat 131 gearbox is a direct fit...

Mirafiori 131 Abarth.

That would be awesome, plus the TC motor could then go into a nice kit.

Most of the above have been done already, including the 20vt Barchetta.

2cv with 20vt would be hilarious.
Uno turbo
Why not a huge Buick or so with TWO 20vt's (following from the bimotore gtv)

I'm contemplating taking the engine out of mine and putting it into a 7-Style kit car.

I'd love to put it into a MK1 MX-5 but the block is too long.

Audi TT Mk1 and convert it into a TT RS wannabee for a fraction of the cost!

Anyone know how practical this would be and what would need doing to tranny to take 350 bhp?

so no votes for cut price Audi Quattro / TTRS then?

Anyone know of any engine transplant specialists who do it for the fun rather than at a fully commercial rate? smile

Even 'doing it for fun' it's not cheap - c.f. my kit car, which replaces a Ford 1.6 lump with a 20vt. Ok, there was most of the front of the car to rebuild/redesign including the engine frame, steering, and suspension... but it's a good job it was fun (and many many thanks to Joe for his enthusiasm).

Like it or not, even doing it for fun, the builder still has to eat, and he's turning away other work he could be doing at the same time.

I've seen a Lancia montecarlo with an Alfa V6, but it would be pretty awesome with a 20VT.

i saw a morris minor with a lancia twin cam engine in it at the bromley pageant once. if the 20vt would fit, it would be an awesome sleeper.

I've just got this vision of the drive shafts twisting like pretzels... I had a kit based around a front-drive panda, replaced the engine with the Brazil 1300 (127) engine; it used to eat the CV spiders every thousand miles.

That's the kind of thing... though I'm thinking this is more likely:
