Hello all,

Not been on here for ages!
I've been having a nosey at Coupes for sale over the past few days and noticed there don't seem to be many around any more.

I'm really tempted to make a "final" return to the fold, but only for a special coupe. I'm thinking a loved LE or a Plus.

I've had 5 previously and would see it pointless to buy a Coupe that isn't an LE or a plus, as it would probably be no different to what i have had before.

Is now the right time to buy though? There seem to be a few unloved examples around still, going cheap, and a few loved examples up for sale at good money. Very little in between that catches my eye.

I feel like i'm in a situation where i would rather pay over the odds to get a good one, as i'm worried if i hold out too long, i may not get one at all.

One example on pistonheads recently has really caught my eye, the red LE no.20. but i'm hesitating to return and i'm not sure why?

I think it's because my heart is over ruling my head, and with the prospect of summer around the corner, it does become rather tempting!

I've posted this in buying advice as i need advice on whether now is the right time to buy, or if i should hold out for a bit?

I'm in a similar situation to you Dan and am also considering returning to Coupe ownership (either that or Barchetta and if you think it's hard to find a decent Coupe, try finding a decent Barchetta, I'm erring towards Barchetta at the moment, purely for the top down experience).

I've had a few changes in my life recently and have been told to let my heart rule my head for a while. Entry to Coupe ownership is still cheap, though obviously maintenance is not, but I can't see that prices for decent Coupes are going to get much lower.

I think there are a few people on here toying with the idea of LE 20, so I'd get down there and take a look.

i would say now's the time to buy as there are some nice LE's and Plus's around for sale at good prices and i can't see them going down in price but only up .

LE 20 has done 115k - should that be an issue / concern ? albeit looks lovely

That mileage is great for the cars age.

My last Coupe had 180k and was perfect! smile

Milage shouldn't be an issue if it was properly cared for. My Plus has done over 300k kilometers. That LE on pistonheads seems to be a good buy.

115k miles isn't high at all for these cars now, LE 20 looks like a nice Coupe, just check for corrosion as it's had a full respray which could be hiding issues.

Having bought one very recently, I feel that the prices are rock bottom now. Decent N/A's going for circa £500 at auction - which is cheap for any car with a valid MOT. You should be able to get a reasonable 20VT for £1000 if you are careful.

But, as you are after an LE or Plus (and a special one in good nick) then it depends what the market commands. Perhaps £2,500 - £4k range for a really nice one? (LE owners may correct me)

Can't see any more depreciation on the horizon now. I paid £2,500 less than I paid for my last N/A for essentially the same car in the same condition.

You can buy 3 or 4 year old cars on Autotrader which have done that mileage; a lot of them will be ex-company cars which could have been thrashed within an inch of their lives. I would imagine that an LE would have been relatively cherished. All three of my Coupes have done more than 115K. My 2000 VT6 has done 135K and is sweet as a nut wink
