Hi there I'm wondering if there are many 16vts running over the 600 bhp mark? And on top of that what gearbox mods are needed to cope. I've got the usual support plate between bell housing and gear casing and also a cnc steel insert for bearings in bell housing but I'm wondering what mods to gears or alternative gears others use ?

Im interested too. I have done same to you + plate to second end of shaft(enlarging the OEM metal strenghtening plate). There was spoken before here. Some people changing shafts and gears for type with more rought(less teeth) type, but i doubt that there is any benefit compare to newer thin tooth design. Also 3rd gear sometime become problematic, but i think its only on older gearboxes (Integrale...)

a Quaife diff is a good option to stop that blowing or some thing else like a gripper diff.

No other factory gears will be stronger so you'll need an aftermarket gearset. A Quaife diff is also a good idea.

I'm sure Bacci Romano will have something (not cheap though).

Scara73.com sells Gr. N reinforced gears, first three gears for Integrale.
Should fit for old Fiat Coupe 16V - box as well.

coupes run 600bhp with standard box's with quaifes and see to be ok.

And very limited on the torque levels.


Yep, integrales only and they change the 3rd to the coupe item due to the way it is made.

Yeah yeah Starting a new job at the end of the month, so you never know when I will be pestering you (probably after my trip to Oz in November)

Side note, gear's or gearboxes are rated in torque, not BHP, same as clutches which people tend to forget

Thanks for all your posts. Reason I stated bhp is because I'm not sure on torque I will achieve. Anybody know the quaife diff that fits because I cannot find 1? Scara 1 2 3rd gear sets are €1290 +p and p. PhoB I am interested in that plate to but I cannot find sum body to do that yet.
I no of a company near me that can shot peen my gear set etc and C.A.S.E isotonic polish them and that would cost around £550 mark but I'm not sure what route to go down yet but I will be interested with a diff

I can put my gears for Cryo threatment, but same as you... a lot of money for something non visible&measurable.

I think, the 3 streghtened gears from Scara are a good solution:

Very interesting. Looks very nice but none of those pictures will open for me in media centre. Enrico at scara said to be 600 bhp is a lot and he cannot say if the gears will last. Probably no problem but when launching at Santa pod that will be the issue. My car is very light at 1000kg and when 4x4 next year. Probably 1100

It was done through delta parts, why do you ask
