My camera is due an update - my iPhone takes better pictures

Looking for something small, easy to use, can take pictures in poor light...budget up to £200 (prefer less)

No brand preference but want rechargeable batteries and SD card usage (which I expect excludes Sony)

My shortlist consists of this right now - decent feedback on Amazon and only £130

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005IFX0B8/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=photo

Any other thoughts?

TIA cool

The Movie Digest records 4 seconds before each camera shot, this makes for some really funny short movies. Avoid the Nikon 3100 coolpix, rubbish all round, just search Nikon and "battery exhausted". Shame as their DSLRs are great.

Cheers Bockers. I linked to the Nikon COOLPIX S8200 - also poor battery?

I have got the canon recommended above and its superb.

Loads of really useful features that you'll never use and the quality when zoomed is brilliant.
I managed to take a picture of a taxi cab from the roof of the Empire State Building.
Robust, well priced and highly recommended on reviews.

The hd video is also exceptional quality and the battery is good with predictable warning.
Is on the heavy side compared to the competition but I prefer that as you don't keep checking your pockets in case you've lost it.

Thanks JBT cool

What would be the next model up or two up, this one seems to have an RRP of £120 (or is that the pink one, the red appeals most)? Perhaps, I can find a more costly model reduced? I am coming from a Canon Ixus, and sort of fancy a change if that's not a folly smile

How about the Panasonic TZ30? Right at the top of your budget but a very good camera, Panasonic were also doing a £35 quid cashback campaign before Christmas, no idea if they still are.

I bought the Misses one for Christmas and I'm quite impressed. Loads of features though so you need read the manual to really get the best from it.

Cannon SX230 HS power shot is superb too

And I was tempted with the pink one as it was £30 cheaper than the other colours.

Vicks, I bought my daughter an Olympus SZ-11 for Christmas.

20 x Optical zoom, 14 megapixels, great screen and good battery life.

On offer in Currys at the moment. £100 off.

SZ-11

What are the low-light / night shot pictures like with this one? I currently have a little compact to carry around when on holiday and don't want a big DSLR, but the night shots on my current Sony are rubbish! Bad enough to buy another one, but only if I know I'll be getting something better...
