My wife has scraped a rear wheel arch so that it is down to the metal, but only about 1cm wide around the arch. What is the most reliable fix - home repair or professional? How much does this sort of thing cost?

Yes, it's worth a bit, so we want it done properly. Where would I find someone in N Wales?

If you speak to your insurance they will provide you with a list of approved repairers in your area.
Your not making a claim ,just asking for advice and typically insurance approved repairers are cheaper and have a fixed price per panel.

Crikey - so they will charge for the whole panel???

It's only a narrow scrape.

What sort of money are we talking, then, roughly?

My guess would be a panel and £250 frown

Right. I found a company called 'Chipsaway' on the internet, and their local rep is Adam Green. Anyone heard of either?

He offers to fix the damage without doing the full panel, so I was wondering ...

I've certainly heard of Chipsaway and see their vans all the time. They are a franchise (like Green Thumb for lawns), so one operator may be great and another one rubbish. Always best to get someone on personal recommendation.

Thats on the cheaper side.
I wouldnt expect to see change out of £400 to do the rear 1/4.
And thats a good price.
Chipsaway are more for tidying up a panel for selling a car.
But its always noticeable and a blemish or rust appears usually within 8 months if not before of the repair.
