Ive had this problem since i bought the car and now its starting to annoy me. As the ticking never stops even with the ignition off. the car has the scorpion alarm fitted, ive seen the siren in the passenger wing area and require a key to disable it i think. Ive got a rectangle fiat fob that lights up when pressing either of the buttons but doesnt activate or deactivate it. Ive read a recent topic on here tonight but doesnt seem to have a constant ticking..

All the lights work including hazards, however there is no tell tale light for the hazards for some reason.

Cheers, Jim

The teltale light for the hazards is on the hazard switch so that may be faulty. The ticking is the relay within the alarm box trying to activate the flashers. Likely that the last owner removed the connection to the lights so they do not flash but that does not stop the relay within the alarm.

Simplest way would be to remove the alarm and replace with a more modern alarm, or better still a remote locking unit. That way you can restore the remote locking capability and get two nice new fobs, and remove the irritating alarm thaat does sod all even when it is working.

My Scorpion started playing up - first symptom was the siren sounding when operating the indicator stalk (it was quite entertaining actually to hear the alarm go off around a roundabout or turning right).

Turning off the siren with the key in the engine bay solved that problem, but then the ticking started so I had the control unit removed entirely from behind the dash.

Yup ive had similar probs with the siren too. Ive spotted a yellow unit near the relays im guessing thats the alarm. Il rip it out then ill soon know if ot is or not laugh

NO!!! The yellow unit is the imobiliser. Rip that out and the car will never start! That IS linked to the ECU and the reason why the coupe is very hard to steal without access to a key. The alarm is a plain black box. Th meta is up behind the fuse box, not sure if the scorpion is in the same place.
