I'll be hitting (very hard) the 50th Birthday milestone next month . and I'm getting conflicting stories of insurance quotes after this so called golden age. Some people are saying my premium will reduce while others are saying it'll be unaffected. Anyone have a definitive answer on this or isn't there one?

Assume that it makes no difference. I certainly didn't notice, and anyway you're better off shopping around EVERY year and challenging the renewal quote and being prepared to switch frequently, this way you will maximise any possible "nearly retired" discount.
Then, if you save money, you can spend it on modifications (but only minor ones, like new ICE, suspension refresh, etc.)

Saga won't beat Neil Willies on a Coupe (provided you do a mileage deal for a classic car). I'm limited to 5000 miles on mine (which is partly why I have 3 ), but I am well over the age of consent and was quoted over £650 for an unmodified beast - they wouldn't touch my Stage 3 Scottie with a VERY long barge pole. 58 in two weeks time with a clean license for 12 years...........
