I am considering buying either the innovate or a pro sport wideband afr kit but would like to here some peoples opinions on them.

My boost gauge is an amber pro sport premium gauge which was supplied with its own gauge pod and matches quite well with the amber lights of my dash. Pro sport offer a digital and an analogue version of their afr kit. I realise that the digital gauge is easier to read at a glance but is it really necessary, I would prefer the analogue version as it would be a perfect match but would it being analogue make it nearly useless?

Does anyone on here have the innovate kit. I would like to mount my gauge on my dash next to my existing boost gauge in a single gauge pod but I don't know if it is possible. The ebay seller does not stock any pods for this gauge and I do not want to buy a gauge that cannot be dash mounted.

both the innovate and pro sport digital kits are priced roughly the same. The analogue pro sport kit is more pricey but does come with its own pod.

These kits can be found ...

Prosport digital kit Here

Prosport analogue kit Here

opinions please..

Not got any experience of the gauges however I do have a dual A pillar pod for Fiat Coupe which allows you to mount two gauges in the A pillar and looks very OEM. They are made by a company called Nomad (I think they still make them) and, although expensive are of really good quality and an excellent fit. I've since changed the bottom gauge with a VDO ambient temperature gauge.

Kj16v on the forum sells the prosport gauges and as I understand has items in stock. Maybe worth a pm to get his take on that route?

I would go with the Innovate, from my experience these are the most accurate gauge available.

Yes they are, but don't worry George yours will still be more than adequate for monitoring your air fuel ratios!

As an alternative to the Innovate, I would also recommend PLX.

They're all just as accurate as each other for most purposes.

On the side of Innovate: it comes with Logworks data logging computer software (don't know if you'd ever need it though!)

On the side of Prosport: it uses the latest Bosch 4.9 LSU wideband lambda sensors, which very few others do. The 4.9 accuretly measure a wider range of lambda values than the older 4.2 sensors (although for the puposes of monitoring all you need to know is <10 = bad, >15 also = bad. >15 on boost = REALLY bad!!). Oh - and the Premium gauge goes really nicely with the Coupe dash! laugh

I myself use a Techedge because it's more of a tuning nerd tool! Plenty of I/O, configurable for loads of different sensors and the software's even (kinda) open-source, if you ask the creators nicely enough! - Not that the vast majority of people need any of that, just nerds like me! nerd

I've got the PLX devices wideband, it's a pretty good bit of kit. If you go for the DM-6 gauge you can 'daisy chain' sensors together and just use the one gauge for everything.

The PLX system looks cool but is out of my price range for what I want.

I don't need all the software support stuff the innovate has, it looks very good but I would never use it. I really just want a gauge that will monitor whats going on and give me an indication if something is not quite right. That said..

I would rather have a gauge that matches what I already have which is steering me towards the premium prosport analogue, but I am still undecided between analogue and digital.

Will analogue do?

If I go digital I will probably choose the Innovate because it is highly recommended and cheaper.

I'm planning on a Stage3 turbo and remap soon and this gauge is being installed as an extra level of paranoia.

For AFR reference, a digital gauge is a better solution as a simple glance gives you a specific number. The extra components for data logging matter not, for a basic in car gauge the Innovate is the best choice.

Normally I'd agree without a doubt. For the purposes of tuning, then heck yeah, gotta have actual numbers. But then for tuning purposes you also want to log them too.

But for quick reference I'd actually say a needle is better. Afterall, when you're caning it down the road, er, I mean track laugh you've only got time for a quick glance at you gauges and numbers aren't so easy to read off in those circumstances. Beside, for quick reference you don't need to know if it's, say, 14.6 or or 14.7. Just that it's 'high 14's' and which direction its heading; (eg. 'mid-12's and rising/dropping')

But hey they're all good gauges so the choice is yours!

I had a Prosport kit on my coupe (since been sold to someone - can't remember who). Was a good kit, the Bosch wideband sensor broke once so I had to get a new one - only about £50.

Thanks everyone.
I have gone for prosport analogue gauge in the end because it will be an exact match to my boost gauge which is also prosport. I wont be hooking it up to a computer or relying on it for tuning, Just using it for a bit of feedback from the engine so it will do me fine.
