Hi guys, Don't know if this is the right place but in need of some urgent advice so here goes. Last week,I was flashed doing 82mph in a 40mph zone.It was on a duel carriage way where the speed gets reduced from 70 to 40.I have recieved the NIP as well. What can I do and what can I expect if I get done. Paul

Website is PePiPoo.
More than 30mph over the posted limit can be a ban. Have they said you have to go to court or are they allowing a postal plea?

Pepipoo has a NIP wizard. That should give you some advice. I was reading about a PACE witness statement which sounds like it's going to be the start of a long battle but it may be worth it in the long run.
Good Luck Paul.

Double limit is never good, however a lot of factors come into it like time of day/volume of traffic/conditions/your/importance of your car, i.e commuting/your driving record etc etc Can vary from a fine + court costs, or fine/costs and a ban, or just a ban, depends really. Hope this helps a little friendly PC

I wish I'd known about this site last year. I'm sure my NIP arrived more than 14 days later.

Why is by a hospital for a stupid place for a camera? Had the limit just changed to 40 or for a while and was there plenty of warning?

I kind of meant does it come down from a 70 to a 40 without a lot of warning and is the camera straight after the change?

Someone at work told me about his guy who was flashed doing 120mph. He went to a lawyer who specialises on speeding infringments, paid a lot for the initial advice.
The crux of the advice was to ignore the initial letter you get from the police. Their systems are so bad they rely on people responding to it in order to prompt them. He ignored the NIP letter and never heard anything again!
Obviously, you never ignore the Court summons! Also bear in mind there was a decent chance the camera had no film in... Good luck.

If he's been sent the NIP then there must have been film in the camera, so that's a non-starter.
As for ignoring the request to name the driver that's also a bit risky, as failure to name is also an offence which carries points.
I suspect the lawyer's advice would have been to name the driver and then, when the offer of a fixed penalty arrives, ignore that and hope they don't get round to bringing the case before the 6 month limit expires.
Of course that does assume that a fixed penalty offer will be made, which for 82mph in a 40 limit doesn't sound that likely.
Dear monos, a secret truth.

Unllucky mate. My brother was caught about a year back on the M4 near Bristol doing 75 in a 40. It was when there were about half a dozen speed restrictions and he had just driven to London from Swansea, he was on his way back. He received the NIP and then heard nothing for about 5 and a half months when they asked him to exlain the circumstances. Thay then asked him to go to court. He planned waht to say and got off with a 1 month ban. The pro of this being that he served his ban and then had no points. The con being he was getting silly insurance renewal quotes. However, he then ended up finding a quote that was only a tenner more than his previous quote.
If you PM me with your number i can get him to ring you, even if you are from Cardiff!!
Ta, Mat
