Did anyone go to this? This was my third ever concert by the Boss. He was amazing can not knock his performance at all...however i must say that the sound quality there was utter crap and spoilt it a bit. As for this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/art...-McCartney.htmlTypical

They cut it off?
Absolute losers. Makes me a little embarrassed how rubbish this country has become. That and the Olympics recently really disappoint.

They should hold things like this away from houses, so there is no-one to complain. They could go on all night then!

Its not exactly that close to houses in Hyde Park.
10:30 on a Saturday... Lets be real the occasional few concerts a year are not going to kill anyone.
Lighten up people.
Yes if it was 0:00 three times a month it would fair enough to complain.

We live in a land where people move near to Airports / Race tracks / motorways & industrial areas then complain they are too noisey. It should be no surprise then when people complain about a park being used as a concert venue. If Springsteen had been playing anywhere near my house I suspect I would have been searching the OFF switch far sooner than they did on Saturday night

By far and away the best concert I've ever seen was the Boss. 4.5 hrs solid, it was the Waldbuhne outside concert in Berlin. Lights went on, music off at 10.30, because of local noise laws and high penalty charges for breaking them. So no, it's not just us that are victims of the noise police.
I've seen some great concerts, compared with him, they were crap.

my son and daughter in law were there on Saturday and loved it...despite the unexpected end....I used to work for Macca and I can imagine his discussions post show with the organisors was interesting....
I went with the better half on Sunday (Paul Simon...more in keeping with my delicate condition and advancing years). we were blessed with dry weather and the concert was fantastic...mostly.
Post the show they closed Hyde Park underground and the resulting which caused absolute pandemonium with no clear direction or assistance from the police or stewards to redirect the crowds was the only disappointment.

Happens every time without fail. Always pick your way before and take a 20 minute walk a few stops away. Its not blaming the authorities Neil, its just the lack of flexibility.

Regardless if you like Springsteen or not, the two on stage together was a piece of musical history.
It was an insult to two musical legends
It appears that a thing called discretion is no longer used these days.

Hmmm. Discretion... shall I (a) upset a couple of ageing musicians and comply with the contract *they* agreed, or (b) render the council (and incidentally the said musos) liable to suing from several hundred local inhabitants, all of whom are likely to be able to afford some *very* expensive lawyers?
Nope. I stick with my original premise; they knew the timing of the show and they knew the cutoff time - it is the job of the stage manager to ensure that the two don't collide. The poor chap whose job it was to turn things off at half ten did what he was paid for. How could he know, if an exception was made, whether they'd stop playing in ten seconds or ten hours?
If those present are/were upset that they didn't get the full show, they should apply to the organisers for a refund. Letting the inflated egos of those who have sold a lot of records and have thus, for some reason, come to feel that they cannot be interrupted, be punctured might be an educational experience.

The mayor of London said it was excessive and supported the decision to let them carry on playing.
Its nothing to do with over inflated egos, it was plain and simple rude. At least let them finish the song, and say goodbye to the fans who had supported them. Rather than just cut them off. Some sort of warning... let them know there is 5 minutes left wouldn't have gone a miss either.

The mayor of London said it was excessive and supported the decision to let them carry on playing. And if Boris Johnson said so it must be gospel eh Mario? "Voting Tory will cause your wife to have bigger breasts and increase your chances of owning a BMW M3."

He'd done three hours already, and as soon as Macca came on I'd have been looking for the nearest Tube anyway. The Beatles were great, but would have been greater with Jack Bruce playing bass......... luckily never an option

I agree re seeing him outside, although like yourself im a massive fan so not really fussed where. I saw him indoors at earls court which was wicked. I also saw him outdoors at crystal palace and the sound was spot on... all be it a slightly smaller venue compared to hyde park. I think the problem as roadking pointed out was the lack of speakers on the sides... i was on the left hand side of the stage around the middle. I think if you were smack bang in the middle it would have been a different story.

It happens at many venues and festivals and at least this time they got the time right. I remember John throwing his guitar at the "Other" stage manager at Glasto in 2004 after they pulled the plug on Kloot 3 minutes earlier than scheduled... He was getting most upset at Oxford a few months back when the people at the back wouldn't STFU...In fact he was quite rude to one of them...

Anyone pulling the plug early on Macca and the "Boss" gets my vote, in fact the earlier the better
