Hi i was dropping wy son of at his football this morning around 10am, on leaving the car park i got hit on the side of my car by another car. big 7/8 seater people carrier shunted into me at the edge of my door and into the rear panel just in-front of the rear arch, ripped the skin right open.shit. damage also to the drivers door window wont go all the way down and door needs slammed hard to shut. my brother is a panel beater, damage assessor, and says its a right off. what are my options, repair and keep, scrap,
shes not admitting liability.
your thoughts on this please, spent a fortune on the 20vt.

You have to pop them on an image hosting site, i.e. photobucket, then post a link here. Took me a while to work it out.

Oh dear.

Not good!

That'll need a the glass out a new quarter panel and painted.

Lots of either skilled time or money!

Just seen the photos - it's repairable, but any insurance company will write it off very quickly due to the labour costs in doing it properly and the difficulty in obtaining a repair section (I was quoted around £800 to supply the rear quarter)

I'm happy to supply as much of that section of the car as you want - we have a Porto VIS that's going to the crusher next week - if you let me know, I'll arrange to have a large chunk of it cut away before it's taken away. You'd have to arrange your own transport though - it's not the kind of thing that will post easily. Let me know if you want it.

I also have several doors available - I'll do you a really good price

Think I've got an inky door you can have if it helps Mick.

Come to think of it, if you're thinking of repairing it I've got a Coupe on the drive you could cut the rear quarter out of too.

Check the boot lid .
If its chipped the paint then it means it's twisted the shell.
Likewise check the other Side rear quarter and the roof above the doors hasn't distorted.
There the usual weak points with a shunt,.
It looks bad in the pics and there's a lot of work Involved in repairing that.
Gutted for you fella.

That's nasty. Have you had the car to a body shop to see if the car needs a pull and jigging? I notice the lines of the door and quarter don't match, there could be some pillar damage.

Definite writeoff if you go through insurance.

What's her logic on not accepting responsibility? Can you explain some more about the precise details of the accident?

The way things are,i would consider breaking it pal. You may get more money that way than an insurance pay out.

it was just after 10am this morning , took my 6 year old son into his football training, went back to car, i was parked down the right side of car park, there was a car parked in front of me,on the corner next to that was another car loading up with kids parents etc.the car park sweeps around to the right across the front of say 50 parking spaces in 2 rows. there was cars parked along the first few spaces maybe 10 cars most people carriers and the like.i was travelling along the straight in front of these spaces when bang i got shunted from the side.didnt realise what happened at first until i looked in my side mirror and seen the people carrier sitting behind me.she said she didnt see me so i mustve been speeding. i had only moved roughly 20meters.i was driving around the car park to exit at the time.definately not speeding,

Sorry to hear this Mick.

Really depends on how much you want to keep the coupe, most bodywork problems can be fixed, just depends on how much you want it.

There is a place in east kilbride that does quite alot of work on coupes, its an exhaust/bodyshop place, guy who owns it has had several coupes and owns a lovely white one now smile

Good luck matey smile

Witnesses? Sounds to me from what you say she's pulled out without looking straight into the side of your car. When some old biddy did this to me in London my insurance company allowed the repair because it was her fault, therefore her company paid - although your repair looks more complex/expensive than mine was, but who knows? Don't give up on her yet

Hi further to my bump last weekend(sat 16th).ive been informed by the insurance company that the cars a total loss. Spent a fortune on it in the last 6 months, was wondering what a 1998 20 v turbo with 147k on it was worth, cars has had loads of work done needed absolutely nothing doing to it driving fantastic.

New clutch and slave cylinder
Timing belt and pulley belts
Water pump
Front spring
All wheel bearings
N/s/f track rod end
Rocker cover gasket
Lambda sensor
Both steering rack gators
Both rear radius arms
Brake pipes front to back
Abs sensor front
Both rear calipers
Handbrake cables
New bonnet release lever and cable
Front grill
Full service march 2012'

That's about it apart from 4 new tyres, all in all the car was in great order,
They have offered me £1200 for it,I've spent in excess of 2 grand on it recently.
What's your thoughts on getting a coupe for that sort of money and not needing to do any major jobs for a few years?
Still gutted.,
Cheers Michael

My car was shown as a insurance write off two months ago, as my neighbour decided to reverse into my fiat coupe 20v turbo front bonnet and the front bumper and the offside headlight. I estimated there was only three hundred pounds worth of damage as I knew I could get a second hand bonnet and headlamp of ebay and was an easy fix. My insurance company" Andrian Flux" however did not see it as a easy fix, as the accident repair centre which accessed the damage decided it was a write off and classed it as a CAT C.

My coupe had 149000 miles, very good condition and full service history with decent tyres, new exhaust etc and I got offered £1345 for it!! sadly insurance companies don't worry or give a damm what you think your coupe is worth, and they use a book called the" Kelly Blue Book, which is apparently the book all insurance assessors use to determine the value of your car.
I was very lucky and got to keep my fiat coupe and repaired it myself" very easy to fix and got a nice cheque for £1235 instead of it being crushed and scrapped frown

Ask your insurance company if they will allow you to keep it, and see how much this will cost you. I kept mine, despite it being a write off and now its back on the road smile If you need any advice or want any info then PM me.
Ahh" just looked at your coupe in the pictures, I ain't an expert however that ain't a easy repair" the door you can get easy off E bay, however the cut in the body work doesn't look good and it would take a expert panel beater to fix that cry
