Odd question this but does anyone here remember it?

Does anyone else have an exhaust from that group buy?

I remember that when we bought these exhausts some of us asked about the Miltek lifetime warranty. I remember being assured that the warranty would be honoured. unfortunately those pages are no longer to be found due to the 2005 Forum crash... Grrrr.

Well some years later and it looks like I will need to claim under warranty

Limited in what way compared to what you had originally, or thought you had? I've got a Milltek race cat and a couple of years ago a pinhole leak caused an MOT fail but they repaired it free after I sent it to them, not sure if I bought as part of a group buy or not.

Have you tried looking in the forum archive pages that Kayjey retrieved a while ago?

I understood the warranty was only applicable to the person making the original purchase but their website now states it also has to be fitted by an approved dealer!

My old Electric Blue Plus had a Milltek fitted which I think was from that group buy, but it was the owner prior to me that fitted it. Kelly then Lucifer owned the Plus after me, but I'm not sure who Lucifer sold it to.

Lucifer sold it to MrT I believe.

Yes, you're correct Pete, but that exhaust will no longer fit as it wil need to be a whole lot shorter to fit to the engine's new position

Dave, thanks for the link... that seems to be for the first group buy, when the Miltek was designed for the Coupé.

I bought from the follow up group buy in 2004, when all the issues had been sorted.

I think that's when I bought my race cat, and IIRC I bought it from Powerstation in Cheltenham, but I will check what paperwork I've got, it might help?

Ive just checked on mine as my car in 2004 (previous owner) also had complete Miltek exhaust installed by Powerstation in Cheltenham....unfortunately there is no mention of a lifetime warranty on Powerstations reciept.

Hi, Im back.

I have actually called Miltek Distribution today abd spoken to the Sales Manager (Charlie) and go some clarification for us all that have concerns.

They have confirmed that there warranties are the same as ever.

Silencers and Components - Lifetime Warrantly
Catalysts - 2 years

You must be the person who purchased it originally, it must have been installed by a approved reseller (Powerstation is one of them.

The Sales Manager (Charlie) said they would not shy away from the warranty and said if anyone has concerns to contact them directly if they like. phone: 01332 227280

And there lies the problem. Quite a few of us bought them from powerstation on the group buy and fitted them ourselves.

To be fair even if it had been fitted by them it could have been taken off the car many times after that original fit and fitted by anyone!

I will be most upset if my warranty is declined on this point, particularly as it is a failure of the welds on the back box!

I dont see that as a problem as long as you have the recipt from powerstation.

The only problem I can see is the clause about the increase of horsepower exceeding 33%, and if further modifications have been done that it should void the warranty.

I'd just keep it simple, tell them you brought the exhaust from powerstation, they are aware powerstation are an authorised supplier, show the receipt and see.

Remember though you MUST be the original buyer.....if your not that and the name on the recipt is different Im gathering it will be a straight no your not covered but we can fix at a price. When I spoke to Charlie he did see very keen to preserve the integrity of the company (ie not get a bad name)and the warranty....so I personally think they will do their best to sort you out.... give it a go!

I am gutted the welds have broken, I absolutely love the miltek exhaust and still rank it as the best mod I ever made to the Coupé.

I returned the Exhaust to Miltek in Derby last week. Hopefully it's going to be repaired under warranty.
