Anyone got one fitted/know much about them and can reccomend one? Are they easy to fit? Always fancied one......
Its for a single up and over.

Theres one fitted on my garage door where I am currently and it's crap. I have no idea whether this is the norm ( I dont think it is) but you have to get out the car, unlock the garage door, move it a little, then use the remote to lift the door up, which to me seems pointless.

I assume more expensive models will unlock the door for you, although I get the impression the one here was a retrofit onto and existing up and over.

got one on my garage door , had it pro installed so don't know how easy they are to do but looks like i could have done it myself . its about 10 years old now and still works very well but the remote is on its last legs so need to replace that soon but i think they are well worth the money .

We've got a Henderson opener installed on our up-and-over door. I can't recommend it enough!

It's great to be able to pull up on to the drive in the Westy, press a button and take the car straight into the garage, without having to faff around.

I fitted ours when we had a extension built above the garage last year. Dead easy to fit ... just a matter of making sure things run straight and true, and then setting the upper and lower limits. smile

IIRC they are not suitable for all up and overs. They do not work on the canopy types, i.e. the up and over doors that stick out and provide a canopy when the door is fully open.

Dave - does the Henderson unit lock the door on closing?

There's no mechanical lock. But you'd have to force the chain back through the opener, or snap the chain, from the outside ... which I understand is a very very hard thing to do ... certainly harder to do than forcing most ordinary garage door locks!

I've never worried about someone being able to open it without the remote.

Had a look at mine this evening, it's a Hormann Supramatic E.

dave_t - Do you know if it's the norm to not have a mechanical lock fitted? Might explain why I think mine is crap as it does have a mechanical lock on...
