Are Eibach springs the best lowering springs to go on Bilstein shocks? What are the alternatives?

The recommended package for sure; Joe CC did a group buy on lowering springs last year which have been great on my Moon so far. Don't know if this is still on or he has any left.....

A year ago I fitted the Eibach stiffened & lowered spring set with Bilstein B6 Sport dampers to my 20VT+ and it was a great success. I then later fitted 17" rims with 215/45 Pirelli P Zero and it was improved again by a big jump. A few months ago I fitted a front & rear Eibach anti-roll bar kit together with Polly Flex type bushes. Impression, Wow!

Results. Well yes, it's very firm to say the least but not totally unacceptable to a true enthusiast and my wife doesn't complain. Road holding is now limited by your bravery and wanting to keep your licence. Stability is beyond imagination. Handling is greatly improved having dialled out lots of understeer. Braking is improved due to stability and lack of 'dive' as you brake hard for a corner or roundabout. Driving Feel has not suffered at all and does not 'track' even if the road is uneven, together with absolutely zero wallow. Steering feel is now very sharp and precise. The only negative (as expected) is that the suspension is noisy over multi pot hole surfaces but I can live with it for all the benefits it gives and smile on my face.

Obviously quite an investment but the Fun V’s money ratio is immeasurable in my opinion!!

Actually, I imagine because there is virtually no roll or dive in corners, my wife almost never complains about speed any more, unless she gets the 'video fast forward' feeling as she calls it. Quite a result, so there is an important added unexpected advantage for this complete package of suspension modifications!!

Balance Motor Sport did a group buy on here a few years ago for Bilstein B6 dampers. They were very helpful Julian was the contact there IIRC. They also have a forum name of BMS but it doesn't look as though they're very active on here anymore...?

Here's a forum review of various Coop suspension setups, in which B6 and Eibach's is mentioned...

There are a couple of places in berks/bucks that work with coupes but your probably better off traveling a bit further to one of the more well known specialists. May well save a few quid too, the places i've tried around here wanted an arm and a leg to do some things. The other option is fitting them yourself, have a look in the how to section.

Careful route planning and always go over the bumps on two wheels!

Buckinghamshire......

Suggest Joe (Countrycruising) at FCCSS (Hereford) or John (johnnybravoturbo) at Midlands Car Servicing (Leicester way). Worth the travel! I take mine to John from Kent!!!

After seeing you chaps with lowered rides, I decided I must do mine too so, ordered today;

Eibach pro kit - drop of 30
Bilstein B6 front and rear
Eibach anti roll bars front and rear

Can't wait for them to arrive at the shop. Then to get them on the coop.

Naf the chat we had and the look of yours kinda finalised the thought process 8)

Hoping to have mods installed as soon as - ready for summer, mountain twisties and blasts on german Autobahns. 8)

It's about time - I share some lurv for the coupe, needs TLC....

I spoke to alternative autos yesterday - and they're dong eibach 30 mil drop for £188 cheapest I saw on eBay was 205, and don't forget fccuk member number gives more discount.

They got b6 bilsteins as well - I'm sure the deal would be good.
Steve's always been good which ever car I had in the past too.

Woooooo Hoooooooo

parts collected on Friday afternoon - should have been 40 mins each way - but due to some "P3n1S" not being able to drive on the motorway and having a crash, they caused mass delays in both directions (as everybody wants to take a peek) - I wish they wouldn't - as it causes more crashes. annoying rubber neckers.

so got the bits - now just need to make the appointment to get it all installed.

I AM like Big Kid - 1 day before christmas. (thats the truth).

The LE is planned for major upgrade in many areas,

Structural - Weilding of the floor pan under the pinin badges BOTH sides.
Handling - all the stuff mentioned above.
ICE - recabling of the whole setup
- Pheonix Gold PLD 1 Line driver
- Pheonix Gold M50 Amp
- Alpine SWR 10" - shallow mount

Styling - Full Respray - In England - (yes its worth driving to the UK to get it done). At O.S.C Leatherhead Surrey. They did a Propper Job Last time (when it was written off by that T*sser in a Land Rover (who was reading a MAP) - I'll back away from the keyboard at this moment. Or Else this will be moderated...............

Roo wink
