ive always liked these aswell i think you can get nearly 320hp out of these just buy increaing the boost the ecu is ment to be able to adjust the fueling itself

the whole car is pretty bad for rusting especially the back arches and the gearbox is made of chocolate

there a £999 car challenge in practical performance car magazine. im sure one year a gtir won this with a high 12 sec 1/4 mile and all that was done to it was a boost increase

They're getting on for 20 years old now so I'd be looking for corrosion before anything else.

Coopless!

My dad has worked on a few of these, yeah your right about the chocolate gearboxes.
Sourcing parts could be a little tricky.
I'd imagine they are plenty of fun still.

Ive had 3,

Awesome cars WHEN running properly, never had an issue with gearboxes, MAybe I had been luky to not have bought ones launched hard alot...

My last had a failure of the oil pump @ 130+ tearing my mates Integra Type R apart... Enging totally nackered!

I was then advised the oil pumps are weak, I would check/replace that NEXT time,

I would have a sorted one tomorrow, I love them.

I've owned one of these with close to 300 bhp, and it ran perfectly for two years.
Gearboxes are usually fine upto around 350 bhp as long as they're not being launched daily

Pocket rocket the true hot hatch king for drag anyway. My mate bought one once it blew up on the way home 200 miles from home.

Family friend had one, just wow, he also had a R33gtr which never got thrashed but the pulsar was awesome
geez it was ridiculous, from the get go, it was boosting till your chest hurt, i was quite young though, still a lovely car,
although they do look if im honest, pretty old, shabby and boxy now unless they have been resprayed bright metalic blue.

and the arches rust badly as mentioned above
