As I may have mentioned I'm into all sort of cars. My current daily driver is an imported Eunos, I've got a couple of aircooled beetles that I'm restoring, a Porsche 924S that I'm recommissioning, a long term VW Transporter (T3) project and a MK2 Golf that I'm doing a ABF engine conversion on. Most of my friends have me pegged as a Volkswagen nut, the truth is I love cars, I just know VW's rather well and have had loads over the years. I'm also into older 2 stroke bikes, I want an RD350 at some stage, but it's pretty low down on my list of priorities. I've never really done a lot with Fiat's but I've mucked about with a couple of Alfa 155's and 33's over the years and worked on a few cars based on the Tipo platform, but the only fiat I've really had a desire to own (other than a strada abarth) is the coupe. Admittedly the styling of the coupe is like no other car out there, and that's part of the appeal, the monumental performance of the things and that 5 cylinder noise are a massive bonus. My favourite engine note is a 20v 5 cylinder Audi engine, the sound of group B rally was music to my ears from a very young age and aside from the odd v8, or racy alloy v6 perhaps, nothing really hits that spot like an i5. I loved the sound so much that I've had 3 cars with the i5 powerplant in n/a 10v form, and one with the 10v turbo, an Audi 200 Turbo Quattro.. I loved that car. I'd say I've got an interesting car history, I started relatively late, at 20 I got a 309 SR Injection, same engine as the 205 GTi. I fitted GTi brakes and suspension from a 309 as well as the 15" wheels. Loved it, drove it till I broke the gearbox, sold it for scrap. I then bought a VW Jetta, I'd started to restore my first beetle before I started driving and I wanted to get into the VW events cheaper so bought anything that had the roundel on. Since then I've had a few diesel pugs and reggies, a couple of hot ones too, the odd Subaru legacy (usually bought with a view to pull the engine out and stick in a VW), a couple of VW vans, the odd bug, a golf GTi MK2 (or 3), the odd stodgy VW golf MK3 derivative, the odd passat, even a couple of mild vauxhalls and a brace of Porsche 924's, one of which is the S model with a 2.5 Porsche engine that I'm currently sorting for use Each and every one I've loved on its own merits, and each and every one has broken my heart in one way or another.. such is the life of a petrol head So, other than your Coupe.. what are your other motoring vices?

Poor you, Dave, you've fallen foul of the wrong section faries again!
I've had a fairly dull selection of cars in my life, but one or two stand out (apart from my coupé, obviously).
I had a 1968 BMW 2800CS "pillarless" coupé, which was like driving a flat-bottomed boat whilst sitting on a sofa. Good visibility, but.
My wife and I are very good at impulse vehicle buys, the worst offender being a 1985 SWB Land Rover 90. With no exceptions the worst and least reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Ended up costing us something like 4 times what we paid for it.
Next was a classic mini - with a "wrap" of newspaper stories about the original mini. Fun and eyecatching, but a little lacking in the brakes and ventilation department.
The maddest of all was our Chevy Astro "A-Team" day van. Others on here have Astros and can confirm it's quite a buzz burbling along listening to the 4.3-litre V6 slurping down your money, but we simply couldn't afford its drinking habit. Great pimped interior and ideal for driving 7 of us to the south of France and back on holiday...

Don't worry Dave, it happens to us all.
Nothing really to note from me - I'm still relatively young (32) but have had my coupe for over 10 years. Previous exploits include:
- An MG Metro that had a penchant for spitting flames and making a huge amount of noise.
- A Williams Clio that had a penchant for spitting flames, making lots of noise and breaking down.
- An MR2 that broke down a hell of a lot
- A Peugeot 206 that breaks in some way almost every other week.

Welcome to the coupe forum Dave. As you have an interest in 2 strokes i will list my couple.
First was a Suzuki GT 185 ram air. 2nd two srtoke was a GT500,based on the older twin hustler 500. My 2nd bike was a Triumph TR6 650 single carb. Passed my car test and bought 1300 beetle. Then onto a Rover V8 P6.I Loved that car with its auto box and white leather interior. Mexico Brown. But unfortunatly stuck it on its roof in the middle of nowhere. Next came a lifetime of work vans. VW transporter,Sherpa,Marina van, Viva vans (2) Bedford cf. Toyota hiace, 5 Transits presant one being a high top lwb 125 hp. Mixed among them were a Fiat x19, Talbot horizon, ford sieera, Subaru estate,Nissan patrol.Isuzu trooper, Two disco's. Renault twingo mk 1 (great little car) 2 citoen synergies and a couple of 7.5 ton lorrys. Now i own 4 coupes in various stages of coupness. There has been a 650 DR and a 400 quad along with diggers and dumpers. Well you did ask.

I'd forgotten the Twingo - thanks for the reminder, Joe! Great French-registered car that I sold in UK. Was going to import them, but Renault wouldn't sell me speedos in Mph. As it's a digital, the usual bit of dymo tape wouldn't cut it with the DVLA. Also forgot a 1981 Pageant Blue Spitfire 1500. Laughably unreliable, but still felt like a proper British ragtop. Come to think of it, maybe that's *why* it felt authentic!
my memories of the Audi 5-pot always come back to standing in a freezing Welsh forest at midnight in the mid eighties, first hearing the unique noise, then seeing crazily sweeping, dazzling lights, then finally getting gravel spat at us amid whistles and camera flashes. Lombard!

That has to go down as the most tasteful accident ever! A bit Sweeney, but more tasteful. I hope you had a nice corduroy jacket on with leather patches on the elbows.
