Bolted an EGT sensor and display today, works fine, but due poor weather i was unable to tested properly.
Can some tell me what is normal temp for EGT and where redline begins - still have no reference??????
Running GT28RS, 3"DP,4b FPR, 1.4bar,Flea Map, Wath\Meth, standart injectors.....

800-900c is very good, up to 950c no problems, if you start creeping towards 1000c for a sustained length of time then ease off as these temps are marginal.

Great.....many thanks....
BTW my wideband lambda sensor was on it's OE place, and it starts to show some "timing error 8" - seems to be heat related cause i moved it just where the cat is, and it works fine......EGT sensor mounted where OE lambda sits....
Thanks again.

When you have enough data i.e. EGTs and AFR, email it all through so that I can advise further.

Have that in mind, because i did full engine rebuild, and most of all long and time consuming headwork, porting and matching, and i was about to contacting you anyway when have all data if any map mods needed.....
Thanks again.

I thought an EGT sensor needed to be in the exhaust manifold - preferably in each of the branches, but (to save cost) more usually in the collector, but definitely before the turbo

the reason is that a small-ish turbine housing will create a fair amount of backpressure, so the post-turbo EGTs will be a lot lower than the pre-turbo temps.

I'd say if you're seeing much above 800 degrees post-turbo, you're close to the limit

So after the turbo, yes ?

EGT here instead of lambda - click to enlarge

Lambda here - 10 o'clock position......

And yes - definitely egt must be before turbo.....

I think Leightons recomendation is probably based on the manifold temps, not post turbo.

Ferrarist - if your EGT is in place of the lambda, it is post-turbo (it's in the first few cm of the downpipe)

Yep - i didnt said that i make it as it should.....i really can't make a hole in my manifold, it really cost me a lot.....that's why i used OE lambda probe.....

Will add 100 - 200C to my readings because of that?
laugh

I'd say add about 50 - 100 degree's instead. I know with mine I don't see any more than 750 degree's post turbo.
