Because it was coming across as a 'versus' thread. Direct comparisons between vehicles in anything other than a track context are forbidden here.

See the forum rules, racing/speeding section.

As barnacle has said, it was coming across as a 'versus' thread, which was reported to me as a 'versus', so I removed it.

No numbers for the 2007- 276bhp version, but it won't be a lot faster. It'd need a remap to beat a standard 20vT. I wouldn't take any notice of Top Gears race featuring one of these vs a Mazda6 MPS and Mondeo ST220, the Mazda would have destroyed it over that distance.

F****** b****** thing...

255bhp sounds great, but I guess it must be heavy - despite the extra 30bhp, its over a second slower up the quarter mile than a stock 20vt

I should imagine the story would be the same round a twisty track too....

Hi,

A strandard coupe would trounce a Vectra Vxr on a twisty track.

I test drove a 08 Vectra Vxr and a 07 Zafira Vxr when I looked for a new family car when I came back from Afghan.

I was shocked at the lack of grip and feedback the Vectra had, I through it into a few roundabouts during the test drive and it just understeered like nothing else and out the roundabout the power overwhelmed the front wheels.

An absolutly horrible car to drive quickly round corners.

The Zafira Vxr is a different story however the one I tested and actually ended up buying had the ids+ suspension fitted and was very surefooted and easliy outhandled the Vectra, not as fast in the straights but at 240bhp it was easier to manage the torque steer as they dont have an LSD like the coupe.

My Zafira has now had the the Precat removed and a 200 cell sports cat fitted along with the 1.9cdti airbox modification and a EDS remap to 285Bhp.

The wife and I had a bit of fun on the Autobahn after it was remapped and she kicked my arse quite easliy and trust me they do more than 147mph!!

Forget the Vectra Vxr get a Zafira Vxr with some toys!!

Don't worry though I'm waiting for Flea to do a remote map on my newly fitted GT28rs then things will change and shut her up.

Ian

Cheers Ian for the info, it has put me off getting one...had a Vectra V6 before which wasn't to bad, bit of a dead feel to the steering but wasn't bad handling though it had uprated suspension all round.

Another option I've been thinking of is the Astra VXR 888, I've read they are around 300bhp...ever driven one? The mrs already has a people carrier so don't really want to get two...might talk her into trading hers in for a zafira vxr.
