I just did the same for fuel, tax and insurance and it's about the same as yours gurly. But you would have these costs wit h any car. OK some may be a little better, my daughters Fiat 500 costs less to tax insure and run than the coop but doesn't look or sound *quite* as good :)But you know you love it so why torment yourself adding up costs smile

My total costs for the Sprinty, over a period of 6.5 years ran to about £75,000, although about £40k of this was fuel.

Insurance, tax and fuel are unavoidable. The difference between a Coupe and other similar cars is comparatively minor. Sure a Hyundai i10 will be cheaper, but ...

If you did not spend this money, wouldn't you have to sit at home all the time?

What I look at is does my car cost too much to keep running. While that cost is acceptable, the car stays. However, belt change costs in Germany are painful. (475 EUR for an Impreza, 1185 EUR for a Coupe). That second bill did not please me this year frown Neither did the first one, but it was at least somewhat more in keeping with the value of the car.

The coupe isn't really that expensive to run to be honest. It doesn't matter what car you drive, you'll still have to pay for insurance, tax and fuel. It's obviously a bit more thirsty than some other cars, and some parts can be a bit pricey, but to put it in perspective I've just had a phone call from the local skoda/VW dealer quoting me nearly £2,000 for work needed on my 2001 skoda fabia TDi estate rolleyes. And at the end of the day, it will still be an ugly Skoda Fabia estate.

I know what I'd rather be driving smile

I've given up on adding stuff up now Marco, it got past £20k ages ago... the fact it's probably got the worst recent history of any coupe the resale value is going to be near zero, so what's the point of knowing what i've spent?

If it breaks this weekend i'll use the close proximity of bonfire night to see an end to it all grr

Bought cheap and cheerful at start of year without MOT. Cost over £400 to get her through MOT. Since then £320 insurance and tax on top of that. Otherwise nothing else other than the oil she drinks and fuel. Longest journey was 450 miles each way to bottom of Cornwall and back. Did each way on a tank of fuel smile Cheaper on fuel than my last motor, a 2.5 v6, and much cheaper than wifes car, 2.8 shogun LWB.

I think if people complain about how much it costs to run the Coupe, it's not the car for them!

Everyone is fully aware of the potential costs of owning a Coupe. The problem is just once the tuning bug bites, all rationale flies out the window!

No your not crazy. My beautiful Coupe finaly died. After 9 years of fun and £400 a month in bills and a ltr of oil every month.

So not wanting to be without a toy I bought a Z4MR. It's worked faultlessly and tries to kill me every time I show it a corner, so lot's of fun. But 5k depriciation in a year £430 tax. £500 insurance I could do without. Good news is I can still get 30+ mpg when bimbling along.

4 months, 4000 miles.. (Not sure how I've done that many, only gets driven on weekends usually!)
~£1500 in repairs (plus MOT, which went fine!) mostly in first 2 months though.
~£900 insurance
£118 tax
~£1000 in fuel? Haven't been keeping track of that tongue

Add in the initial purchase price, and it stands me at around £5k so far.
The expenses in the first few months did make me wonder if I wwas really doing the right thing - but then I just went for another drive, and all the bad stuff was forgotten laugh

I bought it at the point when it should have been 4 cars high, Spent shed loads of money & time, but....... Love driving it, love the looks & the fact I don't see too many of them.

You live once & can't take the money with you, so give it to a worthy cause...... I give you the Fiat Coupe bow

Guys, if you think running a Fiat Coupe is expensive then listen to this, a friend who bought a 2nd hand Maserati 4200GT, went to the dealer for a health checkup, he was quoted HK$60K (approx. GBP 5K) for a clutch change + annual service!

The fuel costs really are not that bad a few of my mates have focus st3's and they burn fuel especially my mate with a gts-t he does minimum atleast £20 more a cruise night than me and its performance isnt as good in a straight line smile

I think the running costs are pretty good really - probably no more than I would have spent on any other car -

£200 insurance
£200 Tax
£440 on full service / MOT / thermostat change
£700 on fuel (approx)

Then I bought new alloys and tyres, but didn't really need to as there was nothing wrong with the old ones - just fancied a change.

Oh, plus £100 for set on leather seats, again not really needed, by nice all the same.

So, I guess, no more expensive then any other car that I could have had.

Whoa! All those figures make me feel pretty fortunate! I bough my 20vt in June. It had a replacement engine fitted, all belts replaced, new clutch, 11 months MOT and 5 months tax.

So far i've spent £15 - injector, £20 - Idle Control Valve, £20 - Armval PRV, £15 for wipers and £2.67 for a dipstick seal. Other than these, the car hasn't missed a beat.

I've probably thrown about £100 at it for luxurys such as HID's, Dial Rings, and Boost Gauge.

Not bad when you consider the car only cost me £1000!
