A small section of photos and my graphs from the Rolling Road session that DidCoop organised on Sunday 2nd May.
Location: Hayes Engineering, Erith/Kent. DynaTech rollers, probably the most advanced one out there.
I forgot how many coops we had there, around 6? Along with an Ford Puma, Fiat Van(!), Focus RS, Toyota Twin Turbo Supra, Subaru Impreza.
Nice mix of coops there, a couple of modded 16vt's and 20vt's, 1 standard LE and 1 standard Plus.
First up on the rollers was my standard 20vt Plus (Engine on 47k), with a Powerflow cat-back exhaust system. No other modifications, mapping, dump valves etc .. It was hammering down with rain by the time as I was nearly there , so the car was brought into the building to dry ...
I drove 100 miles in that morning, so the car was nice and warmed up and at 6:45am in the morning with nothing on the roads and being dry on the A3 I got to loosen up the turbo
Coop being positioned onto the rollers ...
I was hoping the coop would make standard power and it didn't disappoint, it maxxed out at 221.8bhp with a peak of nearly 280lb/ft of torque at 1.2 bar overboost. Bob (the owner) noted that the car was running very rich at the top end that robbed it making more power, estimating another 10bhp or so might have been gained with spot-on fuelling.
Flywheel power and torque:
Flywheel power and Air/Fuel ratio:
Flywheel power and Manifold Pressure
My concern was that the car could run lean at the top end in standard guise, another coupe paranoia??!, I guess running rich is the lesser of the two evils and i'm now debating whether I should get the fuelling sorted by mapping (although not modifying the car and upping boost levels as I am keeping this car standard, uprated parts and getting it running as best as I can).
Nice LE in standard guise, I think this one pushed out about 215bhp and was running a touch lean at the top end. Maybe the owner can chip in on this?
Next up, Modded 16vt's running Evo chips and GTECs, pushing between 230-246bhp off the top of my head.
20vt's, can't remember the specs of these ones but I think R1Dan's was pushing 306bhp, I'm sure he'll correct me on this.
and one that didn't run, squeaky tensioner belt, better to be safe than sorry...
DidCoops 16vt, sporting the new spray job and nice boost gauge mounted into the dash.
Producing a maximum of 244.3 bhp ..
you'd have thought he didn't make standard power judging by this photo but I missed him jumping in the air like a loon
Other cars ...
Ford Puma, after 5 runs pushed 126bhp,
Ford Focus RS, mapped (although I think was running too rich) producing around 280bhp
Subaru, don't know much about this one, I think it had a different engine in it!, run about 270-280 bhp I think
And the most powerful one of the session, the twin turbo Toyota Supra, pushing just over 400 bhp.
.. Mahoosive Car
Awesome day, and having never done a rolling road session I learnt a lot just listening to Bob explaining the DynoTech graphs.
