On my way to work this morning i was in the middle lane of the M5 behind a lorry waiting for it to crawl past a girl in a mini on the inside lane.

I was about 1 mile from my exit and my plan was to sit behind the lorry untill it had fully passed the girl, gone ahead a bit (by this point i was kind of alongside her), and then i would pull into the inside lane ahead of her.

However by the time the lorry had gotten far enough ahead for me to safely move into the inside lane, we were now half a mile from my exit.

The space was there and the girl in the mini was going alot slower now so i moved across into the inside lane... and then brown trousered myself!

The inside lane was stationary. I had just enough time to slam on my brakes and target my car to the left of the mercedes infront towards the hard shoulder. But the brakes did a great job of stopping me and the front right corner of my car was only a few inches past the rear left of the merc, on the hard shoulder.

As the traffic started rolling again i neatly repositioned my car and apologised to those around. box

OEM brakes thumb

Additional > the breaks on all my coupes, especially the stilo have been great and will happily pull your face off on a good stamp. The problem I have found on OEM pads is once you have had cause to perform a few at speed slowdowns or generally got them a tad on the hot side they experiences massive fade (less of a issue on the brembos than the n/a or the 16vt though)

Me !
If you had uprated brakes you'd have stopped so quick you'd have had time for a smug smile - just before you'd have been rear ended by the mini ! !

I just survived the M6 to motormech no thanks to the white transit 5mm from my rear bumper.
I'm going home the long way !

And if you were to try repeating that 50 times over the next 15 minutes, I suspect you'd not be so glowing in your praise.

Glad you survived the near miss though, you can still give me that lift this evening tongue

If you need to brake like that 50 times in 15 minutes on the road, you're doing something seriously wrong in your driving.

Very true. I was of course talking about track use.

I'm just poking fun at dear old Truffle laugh
