I've just got back from the body shop where my coupe is being fitted for her new frock. I've gone for the full respray in speed red and should have her back in 8 to 10 days.

I feel all tense and I've already called them as soon as I got back just to make sure I was clear in what I want to be achieved.

The only problem is even when I get her back I've got to refit loads of bits as I'm half way through stripping the interior out to fit a new ICE system, sound deadening, LE belts and polished engine goodies.

I'm really looking forward to showing you guys the finished job and hopefully have it all put back together for the Simply Italian Event . I WANT THAT TROPHY!

I popped down there to see how things are going and it's moving along nicely. The doors, boot, mirrors, bumpers, fuel cap and interior trim are sitting in a nice pile all ready for a little paint (they even found a little ding in some of the interior trim that needed sorting).

The dings have been sorted as required, the arches have been treated and the first coat is on.

They think it should be ready within the week.

Which BodyShop are you using?

They do all sorts. When I dropped my coupe of they had just finished a RX7 with a V8 lump. They were also working on a BMW cop car.

As soon as she's done Duncan you'll have to cast your eye over her.

The garage have just called me to tell me my baby's ready.


The problem is I can't collect it until tomorrow.

I feel you pain, like buy a new gadget and finding a slip from the postman and having to wait a day to collect it

i remeber when i had mine resprayed a few years back

the wife took me to pick it up and the look on her face when we drove round the corner to the body shop and it sat there waiting for us said it all

It's amazing the difference a respray gives to the overall appearance.

I can't bring myself to park her in a public car park yet and I think at Brooklands I'm going to cordon off two metres around her.
