this has possibly been done to death.. BUT.... im doing it again! As the rear 20vt brakes are shocking, me and mario where looking at replacements and going a step bigger. we looked at the evo rear brembo's but then realised the rear disc'c are 300mm, so that will require brackets.. the rear size is 240mm taken from here! what would be a good replacment for the pointless rear coupe brakes? i remember using a thread about using 16vt front disc's and VAG calipers... also, i know about the tarox kit, but they are a very expensive option... £645 shocking! with that kit they use the 300mm rear disc. So, thinking about it, you could use the Evo rear calipers and a 300mm rear disc... oh also found this! usufull info for making the bracket!! so now it leave me with one problem... finding a 300mm disc to use on the rear that fits the coupe.. any one?

I looked into this Marco. I couldn't find a 300mm disk to use with the standard caliper anywhere (needs to be 300mm x 11mm solid disk). You could go for a vented disk but you would need to change the caliper, that could leave you with clearance issues under standard wheels.
There is another kit, Suba had them on the back of his coupe. Not sure if they fit under standard wheels or how much they are though.

Not sure taz...
I think you will need a custom bracket.
The tarox bracket "should" fit the evo caliper... The rear brake disc is 300mm
I'm going to call red dot tomorrow and see if they can do a set of 300mm soild vented disc!

The evo rear calipers take a vented disk I think. Not sure if they will work with the tarox solid disk.

Handbrake? Doesn't the ego have a separate mechanism for that, separate from that calliper?

For £700 you could buy 6 pot 305mm k-sport/D2 calipers, pads, 2 piece discs. You'd then need to get yourself a spot caliper - possibly off something like a Ferrari and a custom bracket.
Alternatively you could get some wilwood superlight calipers and discs, plus some calipers incorporate a handbrake mechanism.
Or get some coupe brembos and front discs, then get a spot caliper and custom brackets.
Remember the rear brakes don't need to be super powerful

Another point to note, if you have a hydraulic handbrake it can't be on the same circuit as the brakes.

A question though, Marco - why bother? The existing disc is so underused in the Coupe that there's no real point changing it.
true, i agree with you... You can certainly change the brake balance with attention to the positioning of the proportioning valve, and I suspect you'd get as much benefit from that as from replacing everything at the back.
i need to look at my rear compo valve and adjust it with Gunzi's how to guide, it will make the world of difference. i was looking for a really good stable set up, where you dont have to worry about the MOT... also, it will make the rear of the coupe look a little bit nicer to the eye. Neil ... its purly for looks rather than actual better braking... erm...yer...looks... nothing to do with better braking... nothing at all.. and NOTHING to do with having big juicy 300mm rear brakes...:D also, its some thing i can do while im witing to get my car bak. im going crazy with out it. if it was not for Mario car, i think i would of gone mad. got nice list of goddies to go on it when it comes back!!

(£257)as it had been up for sale a while sorry guys its just been sold!...what a result sorry couldn't resist sharing my good fortune!

KTM, as you have the kit, can you put photos on here of the kit?
also, take measurements of the brackets and a photo of the disc's, calipers...
dam it just photo the hole thing and send them to me and i will host them!
im still planning to have a 300mm rear kit for under £150 with the evo brembo calipers and a good disc!!

As a side note, EBC do a brake refurb service and can do the rear calipers.

right, after looking into this alot more, you could convert the coupes pointless handbrake into a hydrolic system with the rear calipers.
this could get interesting.
if i can get a 300mm disc, i would then look at getting a seporat resivour for the hand brake and a hydro handbrake set up.
that would make it interesting.
so that would mena getting rid of the rear compensating valve yer??
