Well certainly all insurance companies seem to want to this year!

I'm 30 with 12 years driving, no points or claims against me. Last years price was £386 but this year I'm struggling to get it under £500, in fact my current insurance provider (Noel Dazely) wanted £555. THAT'S A 45% INCREASE!!!!

Any one else been raped this year?

If you have two cars in your household try admiral multicar. It's saved the wife and I a packet!

Insurance has gone up 40% across the board this year.

It worked out cheaper for me to insure myself on my gf's car and the insure myself on the coupe with a different policy. £600 for both limited to 10,000 miles on the coupe though.

40% across the board, I don't think that makes me feel any better.

Oh well at least I can sleep safe in the knowledge that the director of these insurance companies wont go hungry this year.

there was a big decussion about this on lbc a few months back, it seem they are all doing this for many reasons like the mount of claims that have risen due the the economic downturn???....erm...yer, basicly even if you have full no claims bonus points and no claims in the last 3-5 years it wont make any difference, they found that swaping between insurance companies on renewal is the best option because your recive a introductory discount for new customers.

Because of the mods you get the joke quotes on comparison sites. Phoning around the coupe friendly guys hasn't really done much to drive the price down either.

Insurance companies are just being greedy ! If they've all put their prices up by 40% they know there's not much we can do about it. It's basically a monopoly. In fact isn't there a fancy term they use when companies act like this????

It's not the insurance companies fault, it's to cover all the spurious "whiplash" claims that everyone now makes, even if it was a 2mph shunt. What p*sses me off is, I've never had a crash. Ever. So why do I have to pay for it? They should have specialist insurers for those that have never claimed.

There's always been people who claim against insurance falsely Matt. The insurance companies do their level best every year to put the costs up making one excuse after another to do so. Pure greed I'm afraid! Don't be fooled!

They are greedy , they've had thousands off me over 12 years and I've not had a penny back Just like everything else in the UK, a complete rip off!

Hell Yeah! Brother, I hear you, let's rebel, come on ..... let's March on Londinium and, and, and, ummmm? .......... do something bad!

and another thing, perhaps if they all stopped paying out millions for TV adverts peppering every channel known to man trying to outcompete each other ...... we might get cheaper rates! Idiotic!

What like not pay our premiums? Hell, IF we get caught well have 3 minutes of fame on "Police, stop!", get a slapped wrist and a £50 fine. Bargain!*

Savings = £45 MOT, £215 tax and £500 insurance.

*I'm not suggesting or condoning this action nor would I seriously consider it. Guess that's why I'm getting F up the A.

It is the whiplash claims forcing up the premiums
Eg 2mph bump 4 people claim whiplash 2k each 8k whiplash less than 1k to paint a bumper but its still a rip off! Anything car related eg petrol, tax is a rip off in this country they follow the govenments lead.

March on somewhere else please? It's not worked in the past and you leave a mess behind.

Thanks Mario. I did speak to Sarah and the best they could do was a little over £500. That was the best quote but then Noel D came back with £465.

I still think that is absolutely disgusting but insurance companies have us by the balls and I had to pay someone.

Please bear in mind the policy benfits etc when you are comparing quotes, the ones offered by Neil Willies usually have wider benefits to those offered by other companies like:- Agreed Value, Salvage Retention and even Breakdown Cover and/or Accidental Damage cover for the car whilst on a Track Day in some cases and don't forget to double check the total excess payable in the event of a claim as well.
