Right, after a couple of days taking the car to bits, it's now a shell, back to the metal inside, and only really the lump left under the bonnet. Lights all out tomorrow, bumpers off and then the shell is ready to be taken away cry

So, the whole thing has been quite educational, I've learnt that most of the engine is held together with jubilee clips crazy

Two trivial points really bug me. How do you disconnect the connections for the electric motors in the mirrors, the plastic connectors won't come apart for love or money. Second, I can't get the cd player out of the cage (Sony, even with the keys to remove it). Anyone help me with either point, what am I doing wrong?!

For the Sony headunit, have you tried undoing the centre console, and then leaning it forwards till you can disconnect the leads at the back (or leaning in behind the centre console to remove leads)... then remove centre console with Sony head unit in situ.

Haha love it!

How to remove your stereo

Step 1:

Dismantle car around the head unit.

Step 2:

Sell Dashboard with Head unit in situ.

Dash will be all out tomorrow. How much copper am I likely to find in reality? Is it really worth the effort?
