Yes, the flange size is for the manifold though, i think patch is referring to the exhaust side. The standard coupe turbocharger connects to its exhaust downpipe by a V-band, which is a round exit from the turbo that allows a round entrance on the turbo to insert into the downpipe that is then secured by 2 half sphere bands around the edges.
Most rollerbearing turbos use a 4-5 stud exhaust flange which is 2 metal surfaces that are machined flat then bolted together, much like the manifold to turbo.

no,patch asked about t2 and t3 flanges.you are referring to something completely different.and the standard garret type 5 bolt flange has nothing to do with the type of bearing the turbo uses.you can get journal and roller bearings fitted in the same turbos. i know of many journal and roller bearing turbos with either, and some with completely different rear end flanges. a 20vt is a t2 flange a 16vt is a t3 flange the basic difference is the physical size of the flange and bolt spacing.
v band flanges do not fit inside each other, they are flat surfaces with the plan view of a top hat section, these 2 flanges are the same size as each other and butt up against each other at the wider end. the v band itself is circular with a v shaped cross section that is placed around the outside of the mating surfaces with the point of the v pointing away from the flange and,as tightened will put uniform pressure on both flanges to create a perfect seal so no gasket is required and using only one bolt, the v band can be made in as many sections as required, not just 2.

Basically you have misinterpreted my attempt to simplify the assembly of the coupe turbo/exhaust system for patch so you can appear to have some semblence of knowledge on the subject. The turbo fits inside the downpipe on the coupe end of.

Akeme I agree with you about the turbo sleeving into the downpipe. Requires much wiggling around to get everything to fit back right if you don't loose off the downpipe mounts. You now know how gs racing just incase you ever want to try take a turbo off a coupe in your life , jason

Prat no need for verbal abuse! i merely answered the question,he asked about t2 and t3 flanges, you appeared to have gotten the wrong end of the stick and i was trying to help.i dont need to try to have knowledge on these things,i have worked with more v band clamps than most people having been an aircraft technician for nigh on 10 years! my post was not an attack on you at all,but your description of the system was wrong, and patch seemed confused, incorrect info will only confuse the situation further.
