So very very true. I would get into my Coupe or latterly the GTV, and feel like I'm Schumacher driving a rocket ship after driving a diesel 306 all week (400 miles approx). The effect has been magnified recently after getting an even slower commuter laugh

However, I'm yet to sit down and calculate whether having the 306 saved me that much in comparison to driving the Fiat every day (I only have partial records for 2008 when I really started a significant commute)

If I'm 100% honest however, and I know few people will agree, I don't think I could have ever really relied on the Coupe to cover to 20K miles a year I do now, without me needing to take time from work to get issues fixed. Unfortunately my commute offers no real alternatives, I need a car to get to work, public transport is simply not an option to me unfortunately.

I couldn't agree less. I just hate driving boring A-B cars. Driving is a pleasure, and should always be so! It becomes a chore when you jump in a dull car.

I'm going to side with Dan on this one. The number of bad drivers i've been a passenger with is directly proportional to the bad cars they are driving.

People driving boring cars, get bored behind the wheel. It's scary when you realise that, to the person driving, the driving is a secondary thing after their conversation with you, or the phone, or what's on the radio!

As a result they're late braking, weaving, late pulling away from lights etc.

People driving interesting cars are more switched on to the drive and what's going on around them.

You find people who get distracted are bad drivers, a bad driver is a bad driver in a slow car or in a fast car.

Most bad drivers are people who have no intrest in cars, the reason i get bored driving the diesel is cause the person infront in there 60plate car goin 40mph in 50mph zone and somehow they forget which way the road goes everyday

i only have a boring car to run me to work and back as i work 45 miles from home, so thats a 90 mile round trip every single day. for starters i wouldnt want to put that sort of mileage on my coupe! it'd be dead in a matter of months.

and secondly i wouldnt want the fuel bill for the coop doing that sort of mileage.

i dont think you can judge if someone is a bad driver or not based on the car they are driving.

I'd go with Dan on this one. Nothing against diesels, I love the torque and have run a number myself over high mileages....

I drive in excess of 40000 miles per year on a mix of business and pleasure.....as I am obliged to drive that far, I want to do it in something I enjoy and want to drive.

...and just to underline the ruggedness of the coupe..40'000 miles in my first year of coupe ownership has been no more unreliable than the brand new Jaguar that preceded the coupes....and a lot better than the new Civic currently on my drive!
