Petrol goes up by 1p a litre today and the VAT increase kicks in next week . Take your Coupes for a nice little drive today to see out the old year, enjoy, and fill her up! OK, you will use a little fuel, but you will save £2.50 on a tankful...

All three cars to the pumps today Tim.....it cost's nearly £90 to brim the Porsche from empty so that's definitely getting filled first.

Had already done the coupe ready for tomorrow, better do the Grande Punto too.
16VT and X1/9 1500
We must all do our part for the planet. I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

Got a mate at work who earns much more then me and rides a bicycle to work.
I believe he thinks we (car owners) are bonkers.. i mean it kinda makes sense
Car cost + tyres + brakes + service + insurance + mot + road tax + petrol = MAD COST.. thats not even scraping OEM parts let alone doing mods..
If we all ditched our coops, would there be a forum?

I filled up with V-Power today at 132.9p - that's £6.03 per gallon, which means my monthly fuel bill is going to be in the region of £350 - £400, JUST to get to work and back, before I do ANY private mileage Getting silly now....

£350-£400!!! You'd be better buying a cheap diesel from a dealer on credit, you would still save money, preserve your beaut of a coop and you could sell the car when fuel prices drop (fat chance of that though!)

I've done these sums many times before over the years, but never at six quid a gallon, so let's see how it stacks up now.
Total mileage = 30,000
Coupe - 30mpg average (yes, really) = 1,000 gallons = £6,000
Right - if I bought a diseasel that could do say 50mpg - here's the costs:-
Coupe - 10,000 miles a year (I'd still use it for the long-haul business mileage) = 333 gallons = £2,000
Diesel hack - £1,000 (would be a bit rough, but its a possibility) Insurance - £400 (all my NCB is on the Coupe) Tax - £200 MOT - £50
Fuel - 20,000 miles @ 50mpg = 400 gallons @ £6.00 = £2,400
So - the diseasel would cost me around £3k a year to run, with maintenance and servicing on top - let's say £500 if I'm really lucky (it would still get through a couple of pairs of tyres a year, plus basic oil and filter changes)
On top of this, I'd still be running the Coupe at £2,000
Total cost - £5,500 (assuming nothing big breaks on the diesel) PLUS the cost of the car (in the first year) = £6,500
So - I'd be bored silly for 2/3 of my driving time, purely to save nothing in the first two years and then £500 a year thereafter. All it would take is for the diesel hack to cost £1,000 a year to maintain and I've lost all my saving
No thanks - sooner spend the extra £10 a week and use the Coupe

Worst case scenario, I enjoy it for a couple of months, maybe take it to a track day then sell it on, book value is more than my Jag tbh. Mmm, maybe see if Flea can tweak it too?

Insurance - £400 (all my NCB is on the Coupe) [/quote] Not if you change over to Neil willies.. Classic car insurance which means you can then use your NCB on another car And the coupe insurance should be less than what you are paying now so therefore saving money..

I saved about £60 a week on fuel when i started using a diesel instead of the coupe plus the tax is only £120 a year too. I was doing the same mileage and the diesel saved me nearly the price of the leon in a year.
