I've also found a number for the pub in the nearby village of Headley - I'm going to call them and find out if they know of a local farmer that might help

Hold fire - I've found someone with a 4x4 just a couple of miles away - I've spoken with them - they are willing to go and collect them

Keep off Kayjey's phone for a couple of minutes while I call them

Right - a local land owner with a 4x4 has got to Kayjey, Joke and Lene - I've spoken with the landlady of the local pub, just a couple of miles away - she's willing to put them up - they should be warm and dry within the next few minutes

Apparently, the police have arrived too, as they were trying to close the road

mario / marco - Klaas mentioned that he thought you were planning a rescue attempt, but it's pretty rough down there, so you might want to talk to him first. Personally, I reckon he'd be better to abandon the Coupe for a day and spend some quality time in a country pub

Thanks for the update Nigel...
I will give him a call and see what he would like to do... Ideally if Marco can borrow the work hilux we can at least rescue the car rather than leave it on the side of the road.

I gotta to agree with Nigel guys, and as I said to Marco, those roads will be really REALLY rough, I am only 10 miles and can't get anywhere near KJ....

For the price of a car, I wouldn't bother, the risks are too high.

Look at what I said to my wife yesterday, before she crashed, I said why not take the train, rather 4 train changes than a crash, and look where she ended up, she crashed and that was in this general area..

Not worth the risk, not now KJ and family are safe.

Great work Nigel smile

Unless Klaas is determined to try to keep moving, I think it is dangerous to send more people out to try and help - you could easily end up as casualties yourselves

Although you may possess the vehicle and the driving skills, I have a feeling that the entire area will be gridlocked - a 4x4 is still useless if there's a 38-tonne truck parked across the road

PLEASE be sensible - people die in snow-bound cars and I know that Klaas would not want anyone to put themselves in danger now that they themselves are safe. If they were still stuck without help, it would be a different story and I would be one of the first to get out there and try. However, the initial panic is over, so please - no knee-jerk heroics

Wow, just picked up this thread... thrilling stuff. Good going guys, bet KJ will remember this trip for some time, it's great that they are all safe.

Hope his Coop will be ok, the Coop is so low and without a roof ariel that a snow plough may not notice it and bowl it over. I would try and ensure the authorities know the exact location of the abandoned vehicle.

Good job Nigel.

If you are going to get stranded, get stranded in a pub!
