Hi Peeps, Just done the dreaded insurance broker trawl spending most of an afternoon on the phone for a quote on my wife's Alfa GTV 3.0. Noel Dazely came out cheapest by about £50. Suspect this would be the same for a Coupe. I'm 45 with full NCB and car parked on the street in a very low risk area. Hope this helps someone get a cheaper quote

With them for the coop, and I've just got a quote from them for sluggy punto which I was planning to sell...£155 fully comp with protected NCB, absolute bargain - nearly half the price of the Elephant renewal and £60 less than the next closest ...think I may keep the shed now

I know Noel Dazely are well recommended around these parts, but I wasn't convinced about their insurance when I rang for a quote. I got asked the usual details & what my renewal/best quote was. I got the impression that a figure was plucked from the air, that happened to be lower. Then they confirmed that my car was a 20vt - I said no, a 16vt - which amazingly didn't seem to make any difference to the quote (which it should as there are a few insurance groups difference). Then I was told that because I had made a claim on my last insurance that my protected no claims had already lost a 'life' if I went with them. Very odd and didn't instill me with confidence. Anyway, I got a much better quote from Privilege - so I went with them.

I *think* that's normal - you're normally allowed say 2 claims in 3 years with protected NCB - only if it's guaranteed which some insurers offered can you claim as many times in any given period
It's good that there are lots of companies to choose from and a company which may be good for one maybe rubbish for someone else - insurance premiums are based on so many factors other than what car you drive. It always amuses me when someone asks "I'm 25, is a quote of £xxx(x!) good for my standard 1997 20vt in yellow with 80k on the clock" like that is the only ting that matters
Competition is healthy, imagine what we could all be paying if there were only one insurer

That's very true. When looking around I had a few quotes that were double my renewal, even from places like the RAC and the AA, who 'search for the very best quote'... my ar$e. The 'quote you happy' place wouldn't even quote me If you ask me, the car insurance business is just one big rip-off. You pay your £400 to £1000ish, then if you make a claim that isn't your fault (because the perputrator drove off) they take another £2-300ish, then they put your premium up £100ish. Then you are only allowed to make 2 more claims within a timeframe, even though you have no control over any damage your car might receive whilst parked up/at the supermarket/etc. Then if your car does become a write-off, they will offer you 50% of it's worth. No wonder there are so many uninsured drivers out there. rant over

Just got a very good quote from Noel Dazley. 25yrs old, 4years NCB living in Manchester with girlfriend on policy who has 6 points Came back with £597 fully comp. Told him I'd been quoted £550 from Adrian Flux to which he replied:- "You say your from the Fiat Coupe Forum, give me a momment" 30 seconds later "Hi, We like to look after you lot at the FCCUK Forum so we will do it for £519 inc legal cover" Thats £600 less than i was paying last yeay third party fire theft!! Very happy

Cappo, I had the same problem when they sent mine (same renewal quote as you). To finsh the story I sent them a fax stating a few examples from the forum of their inconsistent pricing., also adding on my extra mods, GT28R etc. Two days later I had a letter inviting me to renew for £495. A whole £100 cheaper!! and still with the same company, Ensign. Obviously I renewed, but its a bit mean to let folk who dont question the price, pay the full whack.

That's interesting Cosmo - I will talk to them next week. I might point them at the forum, let them realise that us lot do actually talk to each other!
PS - did you have any mods to declare? I've got one of your PBVs/switchable boost (which isn't a performance mod anyway!) and a chip.

Well well well........ I have in front of me Noel Dazely's renewal notice. £579.95. Car exactly the same as last year, mods declared, no accidents or convictions since last year for me. I got a quote from Elephant for £406, declaring the chip but not the PRV (simply because it wasn't listed on their website - I was going to call them and check that). Called Dazely's back again and told them this. They took 24 hours to call me back but have now come back with a revised quote of £425!!! The only thing they've changed is to remove breakdown cover, but even taking that into account they've still managed to shave something like £120 off the premium!! OK, so I get a good deal in the end but it makes me spit that they can send out such a huge quote in the first place and reduce it just like that.

Well after reading all this I'll be having words aswell, Ive just been quoted £608 no mods full no claims no accidents etc and i'm 35. When they phoned me back it did sound like they had just plucked a figure out of the air and if they can lower the premiums like they have I will be quoting off here to see what I can get. Can I just ask any of the above quotes include protected no claims?
