I wouldn't stick Abarth badges on as there is no connection.
I think if there was an Abarth version, having the Fiat badges replaced with Abarth ones would be far better for the cars image, as superficial as that sounds. After all, some people do turn their nose up at it when they find out it's a Fiat.
personally I would have liked :
1. Bigger capacity engine, uprated internals and tuned 2. bigger wheels, lowered and with uprated suspension 3. all Fiat badges replaced with Abarth 4. Abarth badge in the seats and on the speedo dials

I think the Abarth brand was rested for a few decades and only recently reintroduced.
An Abarth version of the coupe would have been interesting for sure.
Headwork, ecu, suspension/lower, bodykit, 17" wheels, LE-type interior would be my take on it.

At the time the Coupe was on sale, Abarths "input" into new FIATs was styling - Punto HGT Abarth and Seicento Abarth - and basically consisted of headlight covers (with an abarth sticker in the coner ) skirts, spoilers, alloys and wheel centres, stick on badges, interior mats, keyrings, watches and some seats (although the optional ones in the Punto were nice and are now sought after). Fortunately, they weren't let loose on the coop

I'd say on the new 500s, their input is better .. a combination of upping power, handling and styling I do like this but the power is way down for me to ever be interested.

Fortunately, they weren't let loose on the coop I understand that there was a dealer option Abarth kit available for the Coupé in some mainland Europe markets. It was only available on the early models though..

Sorry to hijack the thread, but just been watching the latest serving of fifth gear (recorded) with the review on the Skoda Superb... It got me thinking about the Alfa Sport Wagons and then I started to think, maybe the Coop (ok, ok, so it wouldn't be a Coop! ) but if done properly I think a "Coupe Sportwagon" could have..... nevermind! Anyway, back on topic.... I think back in the day, as per Cinq etc the only Abarth touches Fiat would have implemented would have been body styling, however, I too would have liked to have seen a improved handling, and more powerful Coop. The body styling and interior were taken care of with the later models. Id love a rear wheel drive version though...

If we can find someone with an original (non-UK) Coupé accesories brochure ne may see.
I am sure that the UK booklet had the Zender Kit, on a black coupé.

A friend of mine (who now lives in France - and having been given a lovely 20VT by his old man) always swore blind that his coop had Abarth 'bits'. Oh how we argued!

Some tealeaf robbed one of my Wolfrace wheel centres. Bought 4 X white plastic jobbies off fleabay and some ABARTH stickers. Looks well-smart[gets coat]. Bum-end is de-badged for a cleaner look. Bonnet emblem and steering wheel centre are original FIAT though (not ashamed).

It would have been interesting right enough to see what would have been done engine wise & proper tuning etc, but at the time when the Coop was on sale brand new, they were the most expensive Fiat car built, & lets face it they were pretty special & fast in their day, especially the 20VT

I dont think putting Abarth badges on a Coupe is anywhere near as bad as putting Ferrari badges on it. I had black AC Schnitzer badges on my 750i and it looked great. It would look stupid if you put huge ones in the middle of the boot lid obviously, but replacing tired old Fiat ones with same sized Abarth ones, dont see the problem. Abarths are just modified Fiats, it's a cool looking badge, and might give the car that little bit extra anonymity

I do prefer it debadged as you see a lot of people do double takes to see what it is and the private plate (C 20VTP) finishes the car off. If Abarth did do any extras for the Coop then I'll get some tyre valve caps, i'm just not a fan of putting badges on when there is no connection like Ferrari, just looks sad.

I'm at the age now, that the adding of badges or stripes have no interest to me at all.[especially on a car like the Coop] The young team on here will have their own take on things, that's fair enough, not all mind you. It's certainly no business of mine what some do to their pride & joy. This is a diverse forum & its good to see people have their own ideas. Not at the moment, but its when pics of the lovely motor appear on here complete with...shall we say added allurement & what do you think Obviously as soon as this happens it's open to all comments good & bad. I would hate to see things turn into a slagging match like some other forums

If Abarth did the coupé.. They would have taken the oil pressure gauge away and replaced it with a smiley face. That alone would have added an extra 100bhp

Well my 20vt [6] has Abarth wheel caps!! Silver background with a red scorpion. All very nice but of course not authentic, as Abarth had no involvemnent. going get some original ones ASAP. The coupe might be a bit big for Abarth to have a go at as they tend to heat up small Fiats traditionally but if they DID: BETTER BRAKES! Suspension kit. Unique alloy wheels Perhaps the most interesting thing they could have done is have a go at the NON turbo version! The SOUND of the 20V is superior IMO.. Uprated exhaust Rework engine mapping Air intake etc 220bhp of high revving linear power. How much power has anybody extracted from a 20v?
