Not sure if this post should go under technical, but I'll try here.

I ordered brake discs from Mtec some weeks ago. I started changing them yesterday, but I have run into a problem.

It looks like the front brake discs won't fit. The caliper housing is touching the discs so they wont go all the way in. (Pics under)

The discs look almost exactly the same and Mtec spcified the same measures as the original discs. But when I measure the "depth" of the disc, the ones from Mtec are a few mm shorter than the originals. So I think that is the problem.

Has anyone fitted Mtec brake discs on theyr Coupe? Or has any advice how to modify it to fit? I live in Norway, so sending them back would be a lot of trouble frown

Original disc fits perfect into the caliper housing

The Mtec brakes doesnt get enough room in the caliper housing

The depth of the original disc is about 2,5cm

While the Mtec are about 2,3cm or 2,2cm

Edit: How can I make my pictures show in the post instead of links?

What's the diameter of your new discs, the 20vt discs are a few mm larger.

I dont have them here and now so I dont know the exact dimensions, I can measure later today.

But when I put them on top of each other brake surface to brake surface they are exactly the same diameter. Also the exact same thickness.

It's just the depth that is off =\

Could there be a way to lift the calipper housing out a few mm with a metal plate between or something?

I think the 16vt discs are 284mm diameter - 20vt are 304mm

Do you think it would be possible to make a spacer to get the calipper housing a few mm out from where I attach it to the wheel?

(Bad english, sorry smile

I think the problem is solved. I just put a couple of rings between the calipper housing and the mounting point and it looks good.

The next problem is that i can't get it to start!
Always something...

Can something happen when the car has stood with the rear lifted over a couple of weeks?

Maybe I should make a new post for this.
