Hi guys, just bought a Coupe and one of the first jobs on the list is to lower it. So what is the general consensus on whoch spring gives the lowest ride height with going into coilover territory?

I have eibachs -35mm I think. To be honest could go a little lower as still clears over speed humps and still a bit too much body roll for me.

if you have the original springs, you can make them as low as you dare, send em' off to a reputable spring maker & they will rewind some new ones to your desired ride height, easily -50mm drop.

Novitec / Hormann are low, but they are both reworked Eibachs.

Personally, I'd go for the Eibachs smile

Can you do that and if so do you know anywhere? I've another car I want to lower but cannot find any stock lowered springs for it?

As per others I think Eibachs give the best mix of better handling/appearence with as minimal degradation of ride as you are going to get....

I always used to use Graham Goode Racing in Leicester, they probably have the patterns for the coop, if not you can send them your originals / borrow some off someone ( buy Joe @ CC a few beer tokens perhaps ? )

Cost was quite cheap also smile

I think 40 mm is as low as you'd wanna go. Any more and the shock is too compressed, you won't get enough travel and the car will handle very badly on the poor roads.

I have Novitecs all around on my Coupe and yes, they lower 40mm.

A bit crashy for some people, but I like how it looks and feels.

Mine is still on standard shocks too, but with a Zender bodykit as well, I wouldn't want to be any lower than 40mm to be honest.

They've been on my car for nearly 4 years now, with no problems.

Not sure if they are still available to buy though?

I have Cobra 40mm lowering spring on standard shocks and it rides really nice.

They are a German Company with very good reviews and are compareable to H&R.

As T said I wouldn't go much lower or you will be cursing every speed bump you come acrosslaugh

I just removed my lowering springs last night.
I only knew my coupe lowered, it seemed fine at the start, perhaps a novelty factor. 2.5 years of lowered coupage and enough was enough.
Now on standard springs the car is transformed, I can cover ground on "IRISH" roads with much more comfort and confidence.

Anyway, turns out the springs i took out were Eibachs (had no receipts to show in the history)
I have read that if you put in eibachs you need bilstein shocks or the ride will be awful, and it is with standard shocks.

My car sits around 35mm higher now at the front and 40mm at the rear.
I can put up with the look of the car, and enjoy the drive far more now!!

I have Novitec and konis, all I can say is ouch, ouch, ouch. Corners really well though.
+ it catches the odd speed bump and I've had to replace a downpipe as a result; although a good custom exhaust place could help there.

Any lowering springs without dampers will look nice, but the ride quality is aweful, and a coupe will handle far WORSE.

Even on a decent set of coilovers you should not go lower than a 25mm drop, if at all - and get the alignment and camber setup properly to get the car to handle.

-1 degree camber is a lovely set up for the coupe!
