I am about to buy subs for my coupe but firstly need to know if

1- A twin 12" sub box would fit in a coupe?

2- What would sound better, a ported or sealed box?

If they fit might even go for twin 15" subs. Anyone got these in their coupe?

cheers

I'm not sure, All I can here it rattle, rattle, rattle!

On a serious note, I don't think any one is going to able to answerer your questions with out the dimensions of the box. What I can tell you however is that your limited to what you can fit in to your boot by the physical size of the opening. Which is not massive i'm afraid

There is a wonderful picture floating about of some one spending a complete day setting up for a install only to catch on that they couldn't get it though the boot lid!

I do not have any subs Singhting, I did try and get a 12inch sub in before with a large ported box, It would not fit.

Jest take a tape measure to the opening and check? It will become very clear, very quickly if its going to fit

You could quickly knock up a cardboard box to size and try like that if you dont get any factual information.

I got a VIBE box - from the old strada130tc - and when I attempted to slip it into the boot of the coupe - two words EPIC FAIL..............

no matter how hard you tryin it aint gonna happen. UNLESS - you build the box in the boot.

or get slim line box etc.

R00....

I have a single 12" JBL sub in a sealed enclosure. Sealed gives a warmer and tighter sound where a ported enclosure gives more oomph and gives a bit more sloppy sound which is nice for music with hiphop kind of bass. I listen mainly hiphop as well but prefer the tighter sound the sealed enclosure gives me. Smaller subs give a faster response and bigger subs give more oomph. 15" Would only be nice when listening to reggae faster music would be crap on 15" And oh yes 15" will never fit anyways.

I had a single 12inch sub with 2 amps and 2 power caps, second amp and second power cap running other ice, in the boot of my coop and still had room to remove the spare wheel without removing any of the kit- had room to fit 6 tesco bags os shopping. I did do a post on this install but cant seem to find it, as soon as i get my next coop i will redo the install and post up pictures.
It took 5 days to do complete install and the boot section had to be built up in the boot which was very difficult and took 2 days alone i think.

ive got a alpine 12 inch sealed box and for a 12 its tiny and not very heavy, also comes with a quick relese conector so on takes 2 sec to take it out if you need the extra space, its like a little mini sub box but houses a alpine type r 12 sub in it, fits in the corner taking up hardly anyspace at all, if you google alpine limited edition sub and look at the images you will see one with a perspex window on the side with blue light its very similar to that.

hi r00

i bought my box and sub complete from ebay used it only cost me 110 in as new condition, i think it was called alpine limited edition enclosure but i have see a few of them on the bay,

i love and would not have any other box as i cannot see how a box could be made any smaller and lighter while still keeping the proper internal dimentions to get the best from the alpine 12 type r sub,

also has a nice perspex window at the rear so you can see the lovley sub,the sound for me is perfect because its sealed gives a lovly tight controled sound while at the same time being able to produce more than enough bass to shake the interior mirror and outside mirrors all over the place if desiered, definitely sq rather than spl, if you pm me your email il try and send you some pics of the box both in the car and out the car, il try and figure out how to post some pics on hear thanks hope this help
