I'm in need of a few examples of our beloved cars for us to show to the general pubic in Horsham, West Sussex on Easter Monday 5th April 11am-4pm ish. A convoy for the town centre will be leaving at 11.30am. Click on the link below for details.

There was even a Koenigsegg, not very Italian, but nice to gawp at So I thought I'd better do something about it. So I've been in contact with the organisers and they said we could have up to 10 Coupes of various models, that are show worthy.
The rest is up to you guys

I will have to check to see what plans are for Easter Monday but Custard, our VIS may be up for a little trip.

She is a bit of a work in progress at present, with LE lips to go on and a bit more tidying up, and is probably not up to show car standard but if you will have us, we would (probably) be happy to attend.

Damm i've just mashed my Coupe, i used to live in Horsham, my folks are nearby and im there that weekend, unfortunately the Coupe will be being given plenty of tlc from Joe at Country Cruising.

I might be interested, but only if I can get my Coupe show worthy in time. I'm due to have the front bumper repaired and resprayed, a crease in the rear-quarter pulled out plus a couple of other bits.

As for the condition of our cars, I'll leave it up to you As long as they are clean and tidy ie. no external damage to panels, good paintwork a reasonably tidy engine bay & cleaned throughout, as far as I'm concerned that's good enough for me if we want to be invited back again.
It'll be the publc that judge whether they want to have a look at our pride & joys. there are no prizes, unless the management wish to supply any for the best turned out specimen .
If possible I'd like to see an even balance betweeen customised cars and standard modles, but if we get 10 that would be good for both club and I.

I'll definetly be able to make this after getting permission from the wife, count me in.

H just happened to be the cheapest 20VTP plate available so I bought it, unfortunately most people thought I worked for Southern Water and kept asking me why I have H20 on my car.

I just got pissed off with all the water questions

in the end, I liked C20VTP the best.

Ouch ...

I had a bad premonition today about taking the car over to Southampton city centre. parked it on the top of multi-storey where no one was around. Felt happy all day

car was perfectly safe, came back and started to reverse it out, there was a pole behind which I was careful of and then didn't see a very low bit of jutting out concrete at the front of the car as I edged forward..

hence, shattered the right hand side front lip



it's going to the bodyshop on Monday morning and also to have a small faint scratch repaired on the rear (not in my ownership).

£200 to repair and respray the front lip. 2-3 days repair time but it will take 4 days given the bank holiday week. The bodyshop was recommended to me and the guy said it will look perfect, apparently it had been damaged before as there was bodyfiller in there and wasn't a good repair (I had no idea!)

so if the car is not sorted by Thursday then unfortunately I will have to miss this event

Duncan Ohh no!, is this cause you wont have the car back or because a you think a damaged front lip is too much to bear? I'm sure you could say it happened on the way over . We'll all understand. It's just sod's law.....
I hope it does get sorted in time, it would be a shame to miss out, if you don't manage to get it rectofied, I recon you could still get away with it, one of mine has a split in it due to preious damage, not under my ownership though. See how it goes and keep in touch.

Just to put everyones minds at rest, my car has got little (and some not so little) dinks all over it, so it's by no means a "show car" that doesn't mean I can't show it off, at the end of the day it's not a mollycoddled piece of conspicuous consumption, it's used and fairly often abused and thoroughly enjoyed. So stop worrying that your cars aren't pristine and come along and enjoy the day!!! I'll get off my soap box now

I'll second that...mine's a working car - 5000 miles last month -- so carries it's scars with pride! It's still a coupe and that makes it worthwhile showing

Yep, still heading down to Sussex for the bank holiday weekend. My war wound to fix up on the day if you bring the G3 along! Obviously driving down from Bristol so will try and give her a wash before I arrive, but mine gets a fair share of track use but cosmetically scratch apart is in fine fettle!

Duncan, if you're going dent or no dent, where shall we meet to convoy up? I'll be +1 that weekend so probably staying sunday night in a hotel in Brighton, so can meet anywhere along the A27/foot of A23 perhaps, the garage by the roundabout?

I think, all of the cars being put forward to be shown are daily or at least regular drives. So don't get too hung up on wear and tear, it just shows we still love driving them and can, on a day to day basis. Were also keen to show the rest of the general pubic what they're missing out on Hope everyones got their polishing clothes at the ready?
Just to let you know that there is a car wash (don't crusify me ) or a tap at the Shell station next door to the meeting point if you need a wash and brush up prior to the rendezvous.

Just noticed we've got a mention in the local rag, so we'd better turn up

I'll be dropping the car off tomorrow morning and see what they say.

they're not working on the bank holiday Friday, I don't know if they are open on the Sat (they normally work 9-12) so really it all depends if they can get the car repaired and I can either collect it on the thursday or saturday. I'll give you an update Ross as to whether i'll be able to get the car at the end of the week otherwise it's likely to be stuck in the bodyshop

No, that's pycombe! A couple of miles south at the foot of the a23 off the roundabout where the dual carraigeway ends!

No, I tried to do the Pycombe one, this is def the one just beyond (south) of the A27 Flyover on the A23. I don't know which brand it is though. I don't fill up there, it's too expensive. I use the ASDA just up at Holllingbury just off the A27 when I'm in the area.

Just an Official Event update:
Arrival at Hop Oast Park and Ride as per link 11.15 - 11.30am
Leave in convoy to Horshan Town Centre with all other makes at 11.45am - Grouped by make and model
Enter the Carfax for about 12.00 - park up probably in the central area (T.B.D.) if were lucky next to the Super Cars, who knows? Maybe just wishful thinking.
Leave the cars parked up till 3pm and enjoy the festival of Italia.

If you can make it to the area an hour earlier for 10.30 all the Alfa boys will be meeting up at Rusper Alfa and surrounding parking + the Star Pub car park. If you don't think you'll make it in time, please don't get lost, just head for Hop Oast and we'll meet you there. I'll be leaving to meet you there for 11.15am.
I hope the weather lets up to give us a chance to clean our cars Here's hoping

2 options, meet at the petrol station at the foot of mill road at 10, to drive to the meet at the Alfa dealership, or meet at 10.30 and drive straight to the park and ride meeting point. 10am is a nice civilised time for a bank holiday weekend so happy to suggest that time, providing you can make it?

Yellafella, glad to have you onboard More the merrier, get in contact with the other guys meeting at the petrol station on the edge of Brighton and join their mini convoy

As for the quickest route, go all the way up the A23 to Pease Pottage and take the A264 turn off, follow thw A264 down the hill going over over a mini/medium round about, turn left at the bottom towards Horsham on A264, at the next R.about (Faygate) take 3rd exit to Faygate/Rusper, mind the road humps I can get over them on Eibachs, and follow the road and signs till you reach Rusper. The Star pub will be on your left, their wil be parking in their car park and the surrounding road. Please note this is a busy bit of road and parking will be an issue! So please park consideratly There were over 50 Alfas up there last year, and it caused gridlock! So be warned.

Spoke to the bodyshop this afternoon.

apparently the coop has been repaired and sprayed and the scratch at the rear polished out.

Picking up on the car on saturday, so as long as they haven't botched it up and i've got a lip half moon grey and half vinci grey then it's looking good for the event

I'm up for 10am too, will confirm once I've seen the car.

Drove down from Bristol in the pouring rain yesterday, this morning looks like a seagull has emptied it's post curry stomach all over it, looked cleaner before I washed and polished it on Thursday. Moan moan mutter mutter!

WOW looks like a really good day out! Wish I could have made it! Great turn out with the Coupes you did the club proud

Phew, just got back to Bristol now. Second the comments about a very enjoyable day out and great to put faces to names/coupes.

Thanks Ross for the organising, Duncan for the borrow of cleaning products, and Rich for the distilled water for my coolant. Was glad for the humuliation of seeing the sparkling polished engine bays of Ross and Rich compared to my oily mess of a bay in the end. The burning smell didn't make a reappearance in my drive home!

Was also nice to be made an offer for my car, who pointed the chap in my direction when I was having a crafty drink in the pub we'd parked outside?! Nice to know someone else appreciates her, not that I wanted to sell?!

Hope I didn't offend the owner of one of the Lambo Gallardo's when I heard he'd covered 200 miles in the year he's owned it. Think I said something along the lines of what's the point if you don't enjoy it, you don't know it and it doesn't know you!

Look forward to Brooklands in May, may see some of you there.
