Well they look a bit rusty and worn and decided on yellow stuff pads, but thought i d try the ebay discs that are grooved and drilled (front and rears for £109 delivered)....

Out of the box they look suprisingly good and dare i say it, well made... but it remains to be seen just how good they are ....

ill post back when run in, but anyone else had these ???

They look the part...interested to see how they perform on the road for everyday road use. There was a comment before about these being standard items albeit drilled and slotted, and therefore prone to cracking/warping...wonder how they hold up off the track.

Bosco, have you had a chance to test these discs yet? I'm due for new discs soon and these do look quite tempting

That's a good price! I'm not a fan of the dimple type disks and would prefer them drilled but that's a good buy, iv got the 20 grooved disks which iv had before on my last coupe and I noticed great improvment instantly! Iv got mintex pads alround and haven't had brake fade yet!

i'm planning on changing my discs and pads front and rear, but can't decide on what to get. Some say ... smile ... that pads on a grooved / drilled disc will not last as long as on a normal disc. Myth or true? i know that grooved / drilled discs have a improved braking potential, but for city and normal use is the extra price worth it?

I'm currently looking at these Brembo, the grooved Brembos from Alternative Autos and these.

Have now had these fitted ...

(sorry joe but the car became undrivable with the grating noise)

They certainly look the part on the car but more importantly they do stop the car much better although i ve only done 20 miles on them !!!!

I cannot stress enough how important it is to get to one of our specialists to do jobs on the coupe as i spent 2 hours sorting everything (right down to the not removing fluid from resevoir and letting it run all over as the pistons were compressed)simply because i was forced to go elsewhere....

had these disks on for about 6mnths, very good but make a bit more noise over stanndard when stopping due to the grooves. Rog has always said they are as good as oem Le ones and at a third of the cost I agree.

wow,wow,wow....

Bedded these in nicely and they ve transformed the car and my driving in that i can actually rely on being able to stop ... something the fiat pads never instilled confidence in !!!!

I ve been testing them out and actually been able to lock the back wheels on the handbrake with ease and wished i d binned the fiat ones when i bought the car, as driving is so much more safe fun !!

Ranks amongst the essential upgrades, UP there with HID lighting ...

I've been watching this thread with interest, I'm glad that we are now getting some feedback.

At that price It's worth trying a set for sure.

@spit - I was thinging of the same combo as you with the pads, let me know how it goes.

In fact I'll get to see them next Saturday.

Same discs as "spit" , but yellows front and back....

most impressed with rear brake performance , with my handbrake set at 5 notches (i live on a very steep hill ! )
I ve also noticed there is very little dust deposited on the wheels....

The discs are none directional, but are handed for left and right and i ve had mine fitted with the with the grooves facing forward...... i actually like the noise they make when braking as it instills confidence !!! you ll also notice the antilocking system seeing some action ...

Alternative Autos do the Mintex fronts for £22 IIRC. (less membership discount ; plus Vat and delivery)

Unless you intent to track your car or give the brakes abuse on the road they are fine.

Correct! £21.95 for front pads and £15.95 for rear pads. Brand Mintex.
17.5% VAT so total £44.53. That is cheeeeeeeeeap. In Sweden I have to pay 812 SEK = £73 ! crazy

No wonder I buy parts from UK laugh

I would advise against those pads, the set I had actually worn away my discs faster than the pads. crazy the discs I had where the 3M 20 grooved disks and they were worn down almost till there was no grooves left. confused WTF

You can get uprated Mintex fast road M1144 from Alternative Autos. They cost around £85 and are better than the standard pads I had on before.

Downside - they squeal like a pig. Fellow fccuk-ers could hear me coming a mile away at Brooklands last weekend! laugh

The difference in price between mintex and yellowstuff isnt very much! probably stretch the extra 15-20 quid and go for ebc.

I have spoken to these people via Ebay, and they would be happy to do 10 sets at £110 each.

Should I set up a Group Buy?

even with giving them a lot of abuse and left foot braking they seem to be doing ok!

need to change my fluid but all seems good!
