Hi,

I'm seriously thinking of selling my beloved Coupe and getting something more practical for a whole load of reasons I won't go into here. I still have use of my wife's GTV 3.0 which makes the thought more bearable. Basically, we can't go on with 2 impractical cars and my wife loves her GTV so the coupe may well have to go.

It's a 1998 20VT in burgundy metallic with tan trim, aircon(regasssed)and sunroof. It's currently just shy of 90,000 miles. It's the older version with an oil temp gauge rather then the voltmeter. It holds 2 bar oil pressure when hot and as far as I know, is mechanically perfect with no issues. Apart from the Longlife stainless exhaust, the car is factory standard with no mods.

The car was treated to a full body restoration and respray to the highest standard 18 months ago and I've done around 2000 miles since so it's still immaculate. It was professionally waxoyled at the same time. All alloys have been refurbed, badges replaced, headlamps refurbed etc etc. It's been garaged all the time I've owned it.

All the big mechanical jobs have been done (clutch, stainless exhaust, brakes, oil cooler, etc)but it's still on it's original turbo which pulls fine and doesn't smoke. The car will have a new cambelt prior to sale.

I have a full service history from new with all receipts and MOT's. Servicing has been carried out either by Fiat or respected specialists (including Motormech who I purchased the car through originally).

I am a mature owner who has treated this car with kid gloves and I've lavished thousands of pounds on it in the three and a half years I've owned it.

I'd appreciate some ideas of how much I should be asking on here and how easy it will be to sell as it's not a Plus or LE.

Pictures are here:

PM me if you'd prefer not to comment on the forum or if you are interested in the car or have any questions. I can also supply an itemised service history showing all work carried out. If I do sell, it will be available from March onwards. I'm in Devon, between Exeter and Plymouth around 3 minutes off the A38.

Thanks for reading.

Come on peeps!

60 views and no ideas on price?

I'm thinking of £4500 or is this hopelessly optimistic? It's got to be one of the best original cars around.

Hard to say Alan in the current climate. TBH, I think your car is a little bit like a modded car i.e. at the extreme end of the spectrum, therefore the number of buyers would be limited. I think it would sell at £3500 all day long, just might take a bit longer above £4000.

Hi Alan, my 2p
I'd love to think you could get £4500 but I'd be very surprised and I understand its a truely stunning car, but its still 12 years old so if you got £3500 I think you'd have done well.

All the very best with the sale

Trix

If it was me I would ask between 4-5k for it depending on how badly you want to sell it, there getting a rare car in this sort of condition and people under value them and price them against cheaper tatty examples. But that only my view laugh

Good luck mate laugh

Alan,

Sorry to hear you are thinking of selling. frown

I could not guestimate a price but cannot believe it would be as low as £3k if she is in the condition you say.

I wish you luck with the sale if it does happen and if it does, then hope you'll remain around as our official "Standard" bearer wink

Thanks for all the input peeps. So that's something in the range of £3-5k.
At £3000 I'd rather mothball it than sell. I'm still undecided (oh why haven't I got a triple garage and pots of cash like Jamiraqui) curse

Thing is, I don't want to sell. It's head over heart which I've not really done before with cars.
Anyhow, thanks to all those you posted. I need to do some thinking....
