I have said for months that my 20vt returns better mpg than her 20v VIS Any how the results are in....... I on average will get 320 miles to a tank in the coupe On a run ill get 400 (On a Glasgow run and back I did well over 500) her VIS came in at 240 miles to a tank. On the same trip to glasgow I made a couple of months back in the coupe the vis burnt 50% more fuel what is every one else getting out of there N/A on mixed driving (she drives like a granny and it never goes over 3.5k when she drives) I ask because if other people are getting the same results it may well be that the bravo goes bye bye as she uses it to drive her resedance around and she is running it at a loss now any one want to swp a bravo for a 20vt

I've averaged about 380 from a full tank roughly, a mixture of local ish journeys rather than long runs in the two weeks I've owned my '98 20v
I'm very impressed as the fuel guage hardly seems to move (and not because its broken) by significant amounts. Before it I was running a Mk3 Golf GTi 8v which had really poor economy and could quite easily use half a tank over a 100mile run. I once got 425 miles out of tank of fuel on a Mondeo V6 by doing bang on 70mph for most of the journey.
I guess driving in the right gears and with appropriate revs also helps the economy, too high a gear or too high on the rev limiter won't do any MPG favours.

240 miles to a tank is not bad if towing a caravan around

I took it out 3 times this week, were having a ongoing argument about me killing her MPG numbers which I don't think is the case. I drive it with a lot of respect as its her fuel
yellafella, There is no need to make comments regarding my weight, I'm on a diet now

Weight? No, I was talking about using it to move her 'resedance' around. Never mind. Checked the 'stat?

IIRC my HGT 147 gave about 35 on a sensible run and 25 ish round town. I know it's not a VIS but, ya know.
Does it have a filter / exhaust upgrade? These seriously reduce MPG.

depending on fuel type my 20v will do :-
shell v power - at least 400 to a tank
morrisons bog standard - around 370 to a tank
keep meaning to give bp ultimate a go as well

Sam, i'm really surprised at the Bravo VIS fuel I got about 398 to a full tank on mine... and that was booting it the odd time and commuting to work! Almost got about 420 and averaged 36mpg in Scotland following Dan who only averaged 30mpg. Would of thought the Bravo would be better?

I usually get 330-350 miles out of approx 47-48 litres from my NA. I normally fill it up when the light comes on. Works out as about 32-35mpg generally, but got 38mpg on a long run once. It's been slightly better since I got a chip from Flea. My daily commute is probably 95% motorway by distance, but about 60% by time...

Get about 320 miles out of a tank (between the light coming on)with my vis but that is mainly short journeys in traffic with nothing more than 15 miles or so. A motorway trip up north gave me nearly 400 so probably just my fault living down here. Makes that argument for a turbo stronger though doesn't it
If all else fails read the instructions

Hardly the comparison you were after but just to make you all feel better, I get about 250 miles out of a £65 tank of VPower! (and that's with mixed driving incl motorways )

Normally 350 to a tank but I've had over 400 on many occasions. When my fuel gauge goes on I've still got atleast 50 miles to go

Thanks every one! It going to go for a service and a bit of a checkup as it burning way way more than it should we had a chat last night and I didnt know she was spending so much on fuel, its almost as much as I do!!! the fiat coupe idea is out of the window now I think she will be reverting back to a sci 1.1 sporting. The bravo will be sticking with us however as its worth quite literally nothing

Think I was getting around 400 to a tank in my VIS, compared to 300 in my 20vt driving them in a similar way.

I was actually going to start a post on this at the weekend, as my VIS is costing me a fortune at the moment – averaging 17mpg! So for £20 I’m getting around 70 miles!
My journeys nowadays are either my 5 minute commute to work, or a 15 minute drive from North to South Leeds through the city centre to my girlfriend’s. But even still I would expect a little bit more from it!

Am I in the minority have never tried to figure out my MPG? Nope, I've never tried to work out mine either. I have no idea what my other cars have ever managed, but with the Monaro it tells you on the trip computer so that's how I know. Talk about panic indicators!

FWIW 20V n/a (pre VIS model) over 18 months Average = 26.73mpg Max = 34.87mpg Min = 23.15mpg 20VT [6] over 47 months Average = 24.93 Max = 30.46 Min = 19.62 I'm sure I could have beaten the MAX figures but I can never hold back over an entire tank.

Since I started using the 1998 20v N/A coupe to drive to work 4 months back (35 miles each way) I decided to keep an accurate fuel record (for the first time in its life!). Average has varied from 32 to 36 MPG. Normally its about 33 - 34. Got up to 36 + when I drove from London to Manchester and back in a day.
