Can't believe there's another thread like this, mine was so, so, so close to the same fate, it doesn't bear thinking about. Does everyone agree how heartening it is that there's all the offers of help from other members? With a bit of teamwork chap, it'll be back...it's all just part of Italian car ownership.

How hard is an engine change? I can do all the hard work, removing manifold, turbo, exhaust, bumper etc etc Then i guess its just lifting the engine out. How hard can it be!?
The engine comes out from underneath, you lift the front of the car up (if doing it on the driveway like me, and that's the fun bit!). There is a how-to guide and plenty of people who have done it and can offer advice.

Matt, I'm willing to come up to drop the engine out / fit an engine with you!
You need to get that animal on the road once again!
Just think while the engine is out you can make the engine bay mint!

Matt, Really sorry to hear about this Now you have drunk yourself into a stupor it is time for the move forward. I can come up with Marco if need be to lend a hand, we can get her back up and running. She is not aloud to go quietly! Nick

Ah Matt, gutted for you! I've been there as well and its a horrible feeling.
You've got some big and expensive decisions to make. I know everybody is saying get it back on the road, but at the end of the day its you and your wallet that has to go through it so make sure its the right decision for you!
