So you see another coupe out and about what do you do? I say etiquette and the "responsibility" of owning a coupe dictates you should flash / wave everytime! Last three i've done that have just looked at me blankly!! So i am asking the question do you always give a cheery greeting to other coupes?

bizzarely, as there are very few coupes in these parts, its normally alfa's that flash me in my 20v. however, almost everytime my mrs goes to her parents, she ALWAYS sees another coupe, and they flash and wave

Shame! Pretty much matches what I've been seeing! I'll keep doing it and I guess I am probably preaching to the converted on here! It's the Chavs and Grans that ruin it!

I wave but very rarely get a reply. Maybe its because they don't want to be associated with such a dented example

I think the Coupe owners who don't wave or flash back are probably just not bothered that they drive a Coupe.
Or they probably just have a life. I think your on to something!!

I always give a flash and a wave to other Coops, even other Italian cars like Integrale's and GTV's will get a wave from me too . One time I was waiting at a set of lights in Ayr when a silver Coop pulled up next to me,I looked round and noticed that both his front windows were open and I said "alright mate". As soon as the words left my mouth I felt such a tool and I couldn't wait for the lights to change . Baz

Always did on motorbike but I think when other coops in Belfast see me coming they find anywhere but at me to look. Must be that oddball reputation, Sam

I've given up flashing, I got in some real trouble with the police over it.
Anyhooo, on topic -
Nobody around here seems to care they are in a rare as hell car, or maybe they just don't know it? I mean come on, you pay a grand for a car you don't expect it to be rare.
Mind you, I've only seen the 2 around my neck o' the woods in 8 months! One Porto I pass nearly every day, and one Nana 20vt parked up on the way to Scarborough (which I have my eye on in case it goes for sale!)
So I've stopped being courteous and social and have ex-communicated all Coop drivers in the area!

I try to wave and flash but sometimes it is not always possible.
I also think that by the time some people realise it is too late for them to reply!

It would be nice to actually even see another coop whilst driving! the only time it's happened was when I was stuck in a queue and the driver was going around a roundabout and wouldn't have seen me.
having said that, it was only a porto with a spoiler lip anyway

Do you know, it's weird, whenever I flash my ltights people hate it for some reason. Dunno why? mmm..I wouldn't imagine many forum users/club members not responding to a flash or a wave, so that either means they are either still asleep at the wheel, or maybe there are quite a few non users/members

Think about a typical motorway oncoming situation, though... you're approaching at around a hundred and fifty miles an hour, that's a mile every twenty-four seconds or so, and you're concentrating on your side of the road. First glimmer is, say half a mile out; twelve seconds to go. Firm recognition two seconds later; ten seconds to go. Move hand to flasher, turn on lights for two seconds; total three seconds. Now you're seven seconds away.
Meanwhile, Sunny Jim is ambling along with his brain in neutral. He sees your flash at seven seconds to go. Two seconds to locate the vehicle, another two seconds to firmly identify it - four seconds to go. Two seconds to decide whether to respond or no, one second to locate the flash switch... one second left for you to notice that he's responded, and he's probably too close for you even to be able to see his lights.
It only takes another second for it to be impossible to be able to see a response. If you're both booting it then that twelve seconds might reduce to six, and both will be concentrating on their own side of the road... I'm amazed anyone ever manages to get a flash back from a fast road.
