Just been watching the old bird do her practice display from my front garden so I'm guessing the Vulcan will be up here for the open day tomorrow, it's supposed to be sunny too so it should be a nice display

It was grounded last year for the Bournemouth airshow due to electical problems(I think) so I missed seeing it again. Jimbo, I seem to remember blaming you for that because you said something about sending one of your guys, who was a bit uselss, over to where it was based and he'd ended up working on it!

Found out the other day that there's an old chap who lives in my parents road who not only used to be an Air Vice Marshall...but also used to be a Vulcan pilot! Pretty cool.

Have to keep an eye out for that!

love the Vulcan. My brother is a Herc pilot so does some shows but hes off to Afghanistan so is away shortly, not seen the Vulcan flying, only on the ground, must be quite special!

Having lived in the neighbouring village as a lad, I can vividly remember them taking off from the slot literally at the side of the runway

It flew at many airshows last year, but I wasn't aware they had the funding for another year.
Get to see it if you can, its almost as famous a piece of our history as the Lancaster / Hurricane / Spitfire imo

Yes it will be at Cosford air show tomorrow as well, I've just seen it fly over here about half an hour ago so it seems to have survived the winter!

It doesnt say anything about the Brize Norton open day on the vulcan trust website Jimbo, so I think it was just practising for the Cosford airshow.

It was doing both It parked up at Brize overnight on the Friday, it launched from here, flew up to Cosford then back down here. Cosford was a public event, Brize was an in house do so not advertised on their web site.
It did have a small tech snag, I'm not sure what but the display was much tamer than the practice display they did on the Friday.

Not sure how much longer it will be flying, keeping an old plane in the air isn't top of many peoples priorities list during a ressesion unfortunately and the £50K a month it costs to keep her flying may be a struggle

Saw 2 big planes (I'm not that into planes and haven't got a clue what they are called) flying over side by side last night..

Any idea what they were? Twin engines mounted at the rear of the fusilage, bombers?

Id say VC10's, primarily refueling aircraft. They were doing a display circuit over Brize yesterday with the refuel lines out and making a hell of a racket doing so.

Is the Vulcan based at Brize all summer? Not sure where it's been, but is has just been back over Witney this evening, and it's at Kemble on Sunday.

Im pretty sure it was based here for a while. God knows where it lives atm though.

It was a bit tamer at Cosford today than it was yesterday, but we got a few full throttle moments and then a real good howl from it as it did its final pass then left.

Just a few snaps I got on Saturday, not brilliant quality as he had to display at the other end of the runway to where we were due to all the building work going on at Brize at the moment.

I was in Blackpool this weekend.

While sunbathing at squires gates I was surprised to see a spitfire flying out from blackpool airport over the sea and back

That episode was awsome!

I particularly liked the bit when they injected BA in the neck to put him to sleep for the flight and blamed it on a mosquito

My Grandad used to fly in the Lancaster bombers at the end of the war.

He was a tail gunner.

He said it was an awful experience, noisy cold and of course dangerous...

Well he's a lucky man on 2 counts then, he flew in Lancs during conflict, and is alive to tell the tale !

To many sections of the populace seem to have forgotten what the armed forces do / have done for them.. and certainly have no understanding of the importance of these aircraft being shown on all their glory, and not static in a museum.

My godfather was a Lancaster mechanic, and when I was a kid my train set was controlled by the instrument panel dimmer control from a Lanc.

I will be going not sure which day yet. Was a bit of a shock to see it over the house on Saturday....and again on Sunday, and I think it went out again yesterday.

It was at Waddington air show for both days but didnt land.

I urge people who love this wonderful aircraft to donate here. Better still join the club.

Such an amazing achievement getting this 50 year old monster back up in the air again.

The whole of Goodwood came to a halt when this awesome beast did a low flypast at the FoS on Sunday. I hope she flies at our Eastbourne airshow next month.

What's even more amazing is half the RAFs air transport fleet is just as old, worn out, tempramental and grounded as the Vulcan.

The Vulcan trust had a load of tools and things left to them by my Great Uncle, he worked on aircraft guage design for Smiths of Cheltenham, and worked on numerous projects including items on Concorde, and head up displays.

The Vulcan has just flown close to our house on its way into Farnborough for the air show.

What? And the house is still standing? These modern bomb aimers are *rubbish*!

I'm taking the kids to Farnborough Air Show next week end, looking forward to seeing the Vulcan. Kids under 16 get in for free so reasonably cheap day out.

It flew a cracking display at Waddington 3/4th july.. crowd were strangely quite during and after said display.
Watched as much of it as possible as I was working, good to see it here as I remember it here as a boy

Yet the Red Arrows do their usual thing, as an 8 ship as 9th was missing, and the crowd stand and applaud... bizarre i.m.o.

Saw her flying over yesterday, she's still got it for an older bird.

Im sure i saw one of these mounted outside the falkland islands airport,(MPA) not sure because it was so COLD i couldnt keep my poor little eyes open

i used to love it when i ordered spares for the VC10 and it came in wax paper with the date of manufacture on it,sometimes it was older than me!
and the Vulcan flew directly over my house a few months ago,what a sight,goosebumps all over,amazing machine,i remember seeing them at displays when i was a kid,love them.i sooo wanted to be on the team rebuilding them.

Yep - used to live near Greenham Common and so got some great sights flying over our house (including Blackbird, Galaxy, Concorde), but the Vulcan was always the jaw-dropper.

Got into the cockpit at Greenham Air Show in the early 80s, chat with the pilot and signed pic. Wish I still had it.
