R1DAN - Quick tip...

I also used high temp paint for mine, but I found it was a dull finish and it marked quite easily.

So, while in situ on the engine, I masked it off, easy to do while on the engine, only takes 5 mins, and sprayed it with automotive lacquer. The end result was much better and a deeper colour (I did mine in red) - It also is now much easier to clean.

While doing this I also left the coil pack cover on and re-lacquered that!

Easy peasy mate thumb

Nice one patch will give that a go when it warms up a bit.

It does mark up very easily, get oil on it and its a nightmare to remove!

its unbelievable how good these engines look......even just with a good clean and a decent rocker cover.

Why the hell did manufacturers start fitting covers over their engines?

Its a fair point - Check the group buy - there is one picture of a red set fitted.

Mine are still sat in the shed waiting to be fitted on the next trip to Solo...

Cheers AP1! thumb

Yeah, the expansion tank definitely needs sorting. I'm planning to go for a new one as I've heard its nearly impossible to to get them looking as new by cleaning them... frown

I'm just looking again at the shot of your engine at Bristol - where did you get your battery?? Patch234 was just saying the other day I should get hold of a white battery! cool

My battery came from my local motor factors, a small independant place in Dorset, maybe Google varta batteries for a local supplier. I used rice and kettle descaler to clean my exp. tank, after seeing Patch's at Bristol.

I've been going round dropping things in rusteater for the past few months, then painting them to try and get a bit of a fresher look.

There's still a long way to go.

Skinflint - I like your 'original but clean' look. Having said that I am getting addicted to trying Autosol on everything. 30mins gave the rocker cover a nice shine.

That looks love
Was it you parked up near Concorde at Brooklands?
The cam cover looks familiar.

Is it a new exhaust heat shield you plated or did the rusty one come up like that?

Thanks scal_LE33 and skinflint!!

I bought the heat sheild off a forum member called westcoupe, and he bought the heat sheild new then had it polished! But i don't know where he had it done?

The guy who done my rocker cover and strutbrace did a really good job with them,so i might take my old heatsheild to him and see if he can bring that up nice and shiny!! Then i will put it up for sale!

Skinflint yes that was me mate at brooklands!!

Next time i am at a show you guys should come and have a proper look and say hello!!

thanks

james.
