I have just been offered my brothers skyline at a steel of a price,but cant keep that and the project coupe....ARRRRR WHAT TO DO!!

they're very quick and fun, but dont you think they're just a dull to look at, all that grey/black plastic everywhere?

I like the Skyline, But I think I would get bored with the styling quite quickly.

Spend the money on the coupe.

Skyline = Fast Taxi! If it's outright speed you want, then get it, but if you want more than just speed, ie. style in bucket loads, looks to die for and not having someone trying to flag you down for a lift home, choose the Coop!

It has to be said, the skyline is fugly, and that interior! No doubting the speed potential mind you.

Its not just about speed ,it came up for sale and he asked me first being my brother....

I 10000% agree there not the nicest looking car,but its had loads of money spent on it,new spray job, seats, wheels and a dog load of bits done under the bonnet.

He is putting it up for £4500 and said if i want it i could have it for £3000,So i would be getting a steel of a deal and could stand to make a nice lump ,when i sell it (few months)...

But as i was looking at the coupe woundering what to do,i began to think about all the time i have put in to her
and how much i could do to her with the cash i would be spending on the skyline...it just hard to turn down a good deal

MY brother also has a Skyline in Perfect cond. and i like it alot, hate the interior though.
Not sure about how they look, but its FAST.

Truth is, i think i would get fed up of it quite quickly when you cant use the car for its power and using it everyday.
The Coupe is a great car for using it for the odd "spirited" drive and best of all, everyday, as every time you get in it you know your sitting in something rather special and it never gets boring to look at, no matter what angle it is, inside or out.
Still love it when you get comments of people and they have no idea what it is

I quite like the styling of the skyline, its no coupe but does look quite menacing in black, not exactly a pretty car but i do like em, your choice at end of the day though.....:)

after have 3 skylines and now the coop i would say the skyline for driving pleasure but my coop is a better everyday car for me.
also how used to rwd cars are you as my skyline tried to kill me many times over even at very low speeds and you learn how to deal with it but its nice not to have to worry about it in the coop.

also whats state is your coop it?

anyway whats all this soul crap as i don't see any in my coop at all in fact my skyline had much more than the coop.

Not knowing what a skyline looks like, I just googled it and it looks quite funky but it didn't grab like the first time I saw a coupe. Even with a 10 year old coupe it still turns peoples' heads and I am not sure a skyline would have the same effect

Why this is a thread about skyline and I have owned 3 of them you have owned none I also have owned a coop so I think I am in a good position to comment unlike yourself!
Coop doesn't really have any soul just people who try to glam it up to something its not and cling on to that.
The skyline is a much better driver’s car by far and is faster fact. The r34 has a better interior fact! Just because the coop has a color strip doesn't make it a good interior.
The r34 I feel is better looking but then again that’s my choice.
Ok the r33 and r32 interior are so slightly but they are far more comfy.
Everyone goes one how coops don't handle but they slate one of the best handling cars ever made lol
Oh and the most powerful coop on here is 550bhp? Well that can be achieved from a standard rb25 block now and an rb26 can take 600bhp on standard internals and is regarded as one of the best engines ever made. The coop doesn't have that edge does it?
oh and the main point, the skyline was built for racing and nothing else it was very popular so they sold quite a few in Japan but they where never a re shelled tipo where they no they where and still are a technical master piece and still show the big boys how its done. And can you say the same about the coop? No

A coupe 20vt does not 'have the edge' over a GTR in terms of performance, i dont think anyone is claiming that it does. Have you maybe missed the point? A GTR will whip a Ferrari Dino, or Lambo Muira in almost every way - does that make a GTR have more soul.

the soul in the skyline is about the screaming straight six, about the 640bh i had in one of mine, about the attention you get in it about the fact the r34 is a very rare car far more so than a coop. about the fact it can do things most cars dream about and it puts it in a great fun playful package.

oh and where is a fiat like a dino or muira lol they are proper classic supercars and the fiat is not that.

yes the coop looks quite nice i like mine but have a day off if you put it next to a muira is sex appeal lol

OK - could you define what you think makes a car have a 'soul'?

a car that has a good feeling a sense of enjoyment, something special and something thats performance is amazing for the task it needs to undertake.
the fiat isn't the full cookie its a very nice car but not ths magic beast everyone make out it is.
i think the skyline has just as much soul s the coop but thats my opinion so i can be wrong its how i feel lol.

the thread was all about whats the better car and if his brother has a decent skyline then its a better car.
ok you can go on all day on what feels nice but at the end of the day the skyline is a better built car.

Look this thread was started by me to help me make up mind if i should SELL OR NOT TO SELL!!

I have been driving the skyline on and off for a while now and in the past 2 weeks its been my day to day car,which helped me make up my minf to KEEP the coupe..

If it was down to pure speed and turning chavs and kids heads i would have the skyline all day,its fast, clean and well tuned up.
Its a bayside blue colour(nice),and has after market seats and other interior bits to bring it up to date and the power its got is nutts

I like the skyline ALOT its agood car,just not for me...
Im looking for some thing thats not as common and boy roy ish, I like my coupe but the sky line was a goood deal....

As many of you know ,i have chosen to stay with my coupe and spend the money getting it sprayed (next week) and other bits to cheer it up ...

The coupe has some thing about it i like,its a mix ,of its nice shape good bhp as std ,and is gona look good dam sexy when i finsih with it..

but what skyline is it there are the best part of 10 different comon models and some i would swap my coop for in a flash and other not a chance.
by what you discribed i take it its either a r32 gtst or a r33 gtst in which case it would be a hard choice and it sounds like its been mess around with to much.
the skyline is not a comon car at all and i see far more coops than skylines. its not like a scooby.

the coop is a lovey car and with the coop all fresh i think you will love it.

bear in mind that most skylines will need a refresh soon anyway and i don't mean fancy paint but suspension and bushes replaced and los of parts are getting old just like the coop so if you can rebuild your coop for the same money as buying a skyline without a refresh done then the coop is a wise choice.
also it comes down to how much money you are willing to spend running the car as the skyline service parts are a bit more expensive and its a little bit more to insure and eat petrol.

Its a r33 ,and has not been played with to much...

just newer model seats and some nice wheels oh and few under bonnet mods...my brother has allways looked after it and serviced it well in the 3years he has had it...like i said bfore its was a hard choice to make as the skyline is in tip top working order and the coupes not as clean.

but i have a bit of cash to spend and gona sort the coupe out,not much to do now..

i may even get lucky and he will let me pay a bit now and a bit at another time then its win win ,but we will see.

oh and i do just want to say the skyline is a FUN FUN FUN car to drive ,but the coupe has had all my spare time and really want to see it finished,and i really think the coupe does just have some thing over the skyline...
