Hi Ladies and Gents,

Long time lurker first time poster here. I've eventually managed to save enough pennies to buy my first coop, and while I've been keeping a close eye in here, I've also been looking elsewhere. This one caught my eye the other day:

Green 20vt

Yes, the pics are poor, and the description even poorer, but I kinda like the challenge of bringing another one into the fold.

Would've walked on by, but 1 owner from new and fsh and all invoices from new sounds intreiguing.

Would appreciate any help/tips on what I should ask/look for IF I was to tentatively pursue it further at this point...
For starters is the price reasonable or a little high? Also I guess the cambelt is getting close to needing to be done again.
Its not too far away from me so am tempted to pop down at the weekend for a closer look...

Any thoughts/comments appeciated..

Thanks
Paul

No, I would say thats pretty reasonable for the car and if the service history is genuine (dont trust the stamps, get that verified) and it really is a one from new then all the more reason to go and have a look.

Cambelt and cooler pipes along with radiator, turbo, clutch could all be on the way out, check those and the overall condition of the car interior and price accordingly.

You need to consider the whole car, mileage shouldn't be a problem though.

Whoa - so mine is not the only scotts green with grey leather! The interior is very rare by the way. smile

Go and have a look at the car and speak to the owner, that will gove you a good overall impression - but dont expect the purchase cost to be the only price to pay. Regardless of the condition of the car coupes need to be looked after!

The cambelt is overdue for a change, and poweritalia charge £400 to do this for you. If that is all that is needed then dont let that put you off!

went to see this today with Luke who kindly said he'd come and share his knowledge...

basically it was pretty ratty. lots of body dings in random places, a fair bit of lacquer peel on the roof, pretty badly kerbed wheels.

Luke donned his surgical gloves and found the rocker cover gasket was leaking pretty badly too..
Also no red key (which he tried to convince us wasn't standard on all Coupes!) so all in all a bit naff, especially for the money.
On the plus it was one owner from new, and the interior was in pretty good nick and had the history, though not many big jobs done. held oil pressure well and ran nicely, would have had to have been a much lower price to be worth it.

Was a gamble, and goes to show can't beat the cars for sale on here! will bide my time for the right one to find me.

Luke, cheers for your time and expertise, and my girlfriend has fallen in love with your coupe, so another fan wink
