Hi All,

I'm considering changing the front seats to more hugging type seats, I'm sure I'm not the only one who slides about when cornering on the standard leather ones rolleyes

Just wanted some responses from people with other various seat types in there cars and how they compare? smile

Cheers

Austin

i have cobra misanos fitted and they're great, especially on track. the lateral support is tons better than the stock seats so i dont have to use my arm to support my body weight.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/ericliew/Cobra%20Misano/IMG_5407.jpg

they're a bitch to fit tho.

Hyundai Coupe seats (latest model) for me - cheap, readily available and very supportive

Got mine for £200 off Ebay

redd those seats look amazing in the coop.
i am with nigel on this the hyundai seats are very comfy and hold you in the right places they make the hyundai's interior which is a nice place to be so should work well in a coop.

I have always loved the seats in Redds car, they are fantastic, but i wouldnt know where to start with fitting them, and Nigel the hyundai seats look very nice too, how difficult were they to fit.

The Hyundai seats weren't difficult to fit - just required a pair of adapter plates for each seat (which I made myself from 5mm stainless plate - total overkill, should have used alloy

The worst bit was working out all the dimensions and lining it all up, but now I've done it, anyone else is welcome to use my fitting method as a template

Do the seats sit higher/lower than standard? Also what additional adjustemnts do they have? It looks like they have lumber support and height adjustment.

definitely higher than standard - an inch maybe, although I reckon with some clever mounting, you could get most of that back again. I'm 5'10" and it causes me no problems at all.

When I first fitted them, I was worried that the extra height would be annoying, but I got used to it within a couple of days - now I much prefer the seat position to a standard car - there's an added bonus too - the sun visors work now!

The Hyundai seats have lumbar adjustment (via the lever on the seat back, and seat squab angle adjustment (via the wheel on the base) as well as the usual tilt angle adjustment

Most people that have sat in the car agree that they are a big improvement over standard - I've done 600-mile days in them with no aches or pains

What about compared with fiat optional/plus recaros?

I am 6" the height maybe more of a issue for me I guess.

warny, if u use the stock rails they will sit higher than stock. ive managed to get my mech to fit the cobras so they're the same level as stock but it took a lot of work and we had to butcher a set of recaro rails [from my old car] plus some custom brackets.

height was a major issue for me. im 6' 1" and with a helmet on i have to scoosh down in the seat or my head hits the roof.

I've taken the foam from the base out as I wanted to sit as low as I could. I'm lower than standard and it's surprisingly comfortable and very grippy. wink

Seat is for sale as i'm going back to standard BTW. laugh

Have you tried a CG Lock before going the trouble of changing your seats? £25 from ebay. I've just bought one as I slip around on my leather seats and it makes a big difference!

I have Lancia Delta HPE '96 seats, see sig.
They are identical to the LE/Plus ones but in alcantara, also height adjustment on driver seat.

With the CG Lock I'm pretty stuck! smile

Also great on long trips, like all Recaro's.

Nice Benny - Are you going to use a Harness with the seat or change the belt so it loops through the side hole?

The seat came with recaros rails, you get 2 flat bars that conects to the cars orignal seat hols and then on top off that there is a 2 cm tall matel bar that concts to the seat rails.

what I did is -extened the flat bar with a welded matel bar .give up the 2 cm matel bar and conect the seat rails
directly to the flat bar {now extended}

Ill try and post a pic

Hi nigel, I know it's a long time ago now, but I see you fitted some hyundai coupe seats into a fiat coupe just wondering if you had any pics of how you fitted them? Did you use the original fiat rails or use the hyundai?

Many thanks
Liam
