yesterday a young lad crashed into my coupe.
hes damaged around the rear wheel arch and side of the bumper.
im gutted.
the lad drove off.
iv got the lads name, address, and been to his house and took pics on my phone of the damage to both vehicles, but no one will answer the door.
iv contacted the police, and there not coming till tomorrow afternoon!!
useless.
so im gunna wait till the police come and see what they say, as i have two witnesses from his street where it happend.
never had anything like this happen, do i just need the lads insurer to phone them to claim (if hes insured)?
not sure what to do!

as long as you have witnesses you should be okay, were you in your car at the time? as coupedummy says, contact your insurer and give them all the details, that way you can start getting your coop repaired and leave the legal stuff to them (that's what you pay them for).

unfortunately it does sound like this kid may not have been insured, hence the cold shoulder treatment... hope I'm wrong \:\(

wow, why do people drive off?????

they justy make it worst for them selves...

if that was me, i would be stalking his house till i saw him, then drag him to the poluice station, but as the police are involed, Hastel the police till they do some thing.

lets just hope it get's sorted quick!!

As said above leave it to the police. If he is found with no insurance, then the courts can deal with his situation there. Hope thats not the case. Always a good idea to get plenty of photos too as you done.

Sorry to hear this. There seems to have been an outbreak of Coupehitanddamageditus recently! And they all seem to be Sprint Blue. Is the colour not bright enough to be seen?

Hope you managed to get what you are owed! Im still waiting on the third party's insurance to get mine all sorted out. I'd hate to be in your situation where the lad responsible drives off! \:\(

Dont you just pass the details to your insurance and leave them to it?

One reason could be that they don't have all the legal things they should have, and another is that they may be in a, erm, altered, state. Another may just be cos they're gits!

Yes but my insurance company is keeping me informed of what is happening pretty well. And they said they are waiting on the third party. Or in my case the two third party insurers!

You can enter his reg into that web site to check if he is insured...then pull his ears off! I had the same a few years ago, I ended up doing ' A sweeney'in front of his car pulling him out only to see his wife and Baby in the car...and he was insured!

phoned insurers today and theyre legal team is sorting it out.
they said the vehicle is insured but waiting to find out the details, think its a mobility car.
iv also been to the hospital because iv got a bad neck after he hit me.
insurers put me thru to a solicitor about a claim.
the police are coming tomorow so il see what they say.
nice of them to turn up two days after...

police have spoke to witnesses, who live on his street!
and had a mate in the car too, who theyre gunna speak to.
the coupe is dented and scratched at the rear arch and scratched along the side of the bumper.
dont know how much this would cost to repair.

so if under the slash behind the rear wheel arch is all bashed and dented in, along with the scratched bumper, any estimates on price to repair?
do they blend in the paint or will they have to spray a large area of the car to get it right?

Really sorry to hear that, there are some real w@nkers out there \:\( On a positive note, the fact that you had witnesses, he wont answer the door and he drove off holds everything astronomically in your favour :), plus the police are aware of this dodgy little cretin. Best of luck, ps: i bashed the rear right side of my coop, dented and scuffed, above the slash and on the slash, cost approx £150.

Shame they can't do the tugger for perverting the course of justice etc. for lying what with you having witnesses to prove otherwise.

right,my insurers noel dazley have been in touch and said there having problems getting in touch with the third party as there in hospital.
the third party insurers wont pay out as theres confusion wether the lad is insured on the vehicle, which is a mobility car registered to his mother in law.
they want me to pay for the damage myself!
police still not been in touch since and now im worried hes gunna get away with it.
spoke to them again today and they said there waiting for the witnesses to fill in statements and then send them to the third party insurers to see if theyll pay out.
nightmare.
any advice anyone?
anyone been through this type of thing?

jesus. what a great land we live in where people can get away with stuff like this. makes your skin crawl doesnt it.
how can there be any 'confusion' over wether this little scrotum is insured or not??!! its pretty much a two way answer yes or no!
we all pay our money to insurance companies, tell them when we mod our cars, and do everything to the letter, because they ask us to, then when we ask them to help us they try and wriggle out of it.
we all may as well do as this young lad has done, not bother.

il have to see what happens when they get the two witness statements.
in the process of getting a claim against him, so will be adding the damage to the coupe on to the whiplash if the insurance doesnt pay up.
when i get my compo (if), i will then be paying the little tw@t a visit...

noel dazley been in touch today, says insurance of third party is paying up as the lad driving is insured as a second driver.
my coupe is getting picked up on friday and im getting a courtesy car too.
last time i spoke to them they said about getting the repairs done myself, i had a go at them and asked to speak to a manager or supervisor saying i wasnt happy with the service, now it looks like there doing something...
lets see if it gets done, hope so.
glad that two people were decent enough to do witness statements for me or i would have been buggered.
police still not been in touch.
now iv just gotta wait and here about my claim...

Glad its starting to move. The top tip is to keep a camera in the car at all times. A bus hit my bright yellow camaro last summer and claimed it was my fault saying I wasn't over far enough. I had conclusive evidence as I had a photo of my tyre imprint in the left hand versge, showing clealy how far over I was. Be persistent and phone daily, that's what I did and in the end stagecoach admitted responsibility.

hmmm, interesting they were keen for you to seek repairs yourself, but perhaps this is not such a bad idea? if you found the right people to do it, you might end up with a better job than wherever the insurers send your coop.
just a thought.
good luck anyway matey hope it all works out

found out today that the third party HAVENT yet admitted liability.
noel dazley said they sent the car for repairs cos there sure theyl pay up as we have the witness statements.
but got the coupe back this afternoon! yay!
missed driving it, but the clutch seems very stiff, not sure if its just me, or if iv just got used to driving the oil burner.
if the cars been stood around my brakes sometimes feel wierd for a short while, can that be the same for the clutch, could it just feel stiffer cos its been stood for a week and a half?
anyone know?
cheers.

Hi bigtop

chuffed you got your car back mate, my 20vt was standing for a few weeks and the breaks are only starting to returning back to normal after a few 100 miles i wouldn't worry about that. a few hard breaking sessions should sort all that out

the clutch is probably a little stiff, but its mostly you getting used to your oil burner i suspect
